Best onion rings I have ever had! Thick, fresh onion segments with hand-made batter! Everything else was incredible, as well. My hot beef sandwich and potatoes smothered in brown gravy (you’ve never tasted mashed potatoes like these at a restaurant!), the chopped steak (which they successfully cooked medium rare), the seasoned fries, the sweet cinnamony baked apples, the vegetable soup thick and hearty with roast beef chunks, perfectly made hush puppies with real kernels of corn inside, even the fresh green salad with house dressing (ranch). If you’re craving a seriously tasty down-home meal, this will hit the spot! Our server was so sweet and on top of things, and the other guests were friendly and helpful. So far, The Apple Basket Cafe is my favorite restaurant in North Central Missouri!

I don’t know who’s Momma is in that kitchen cooking all these delicious meals and pies but God bless ‘em’!.
Bottom line, don’t you dare miss out on this amazing place.
Service is fast and friendly, portion sizes are perfect, food is fresh, vibes are small town feels and dessert is Home made pie!.

My husband and I were wanting something different, was told the Apple basket was a really good place to eat. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and on spot. If you want a home cooked meal and reasonably priced, then give the Apple basket a visit. I recommend the hot beef plate it’s definitely the best I’ve had. Will definitely be going back.

I can tell you they won’t disappoint.
The food was great! I had the chicken fried chicken, and the onion ring appetizer is more than worth a try. Wish I would have left room for pie.

If good ol family cooking suits your taste this is the place for you. I had the hot beef and it was excellent.
You can see the improvements they have made in updating their restaurant including the bathrooms.
It looks like they have a side area you could bring in a group for more of a personal dinner meeting.
At any rate you owe it to yourself to stop in for a meal.

We haven’t been to this café before, so we decided to give it a try for lunch. One of our best decisions for that day!
The service was outstanding. The food arrived quick, and was absolutely delicious. I had the shrimp wrap, and my partner went with the daily special. We were both really impressed, not only with the taste, but with the quantity, as well.
The menu had a nice variety, which was unexpected. We noticed several items that we will definitely try on our next visit. Highly recommended.
A shout out to the nice server who introduced me to the house made sweet chili sauce. It was amazing! She had given me a free sample and even included several fries to go with it. An absolute delightful member of staff.

Establishment was clean and very spacious. Restrooms were clean and very roomy. Parking is on street. Keep this in mind, if visiting during busy hours as parking might be further away.

It was a really good experience the food was excellent I got the special of fish and chips and my wife had the patty melt. We got there right at noon and had to park about a block away but it was worth the walk.
It’s a little expensive but the food was good.
My main complaint would be the fact that the bathroom was very short other than that it was good stop and we we will be back for sure…
I would definitely suggest if you are in the area to give it a try…

Great food and the service was very good as well. It can get pretty busy at lunch but the staff works hard to keep up. Their chicken fried steak is cooked to perfection. This was our first time here and it was a great stop to make while passing through town.

Love trying local restaurants and had to give this place a try. So glad I stopped by because it was just amazing! Great list of options and the service was perfection. Started with onion rings and they were worth every penny! Followed those up with a double cheeseburger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Meat was great and had a perfect char on them. The fries where just as amazing as the onion rings with a perfect crunch. With all that I had to try a piece of pie. The banana cream was calling my name and I am so happy I listened. I can’t think of anything that was not perfect with the food. The place filled up quickly and I see why. A must stop location if you are in the area.
