Stopped in for a weekend lunch when things were on the quieter side. The space has a relaxed feel with plenty of open seating, a darker elevated bar with big TVs, and even pool tables if you want to hang out longer.

Menu is straightforward American fare: wings, burgers, sandwiches. I went with the Bettie Burger—a half-pound stacked with goat cheese and bacon jam—and it was unreal. Easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while.

Service leaned slow, especially on the food coming out, but not enough to drag down the overall experience. The vibe makes up for it: an easygoing spot where you can grab a drink, enjoy some grub, and kick back.

Definitely recommend if you’re in downtown Royse City looking for a fun place to post up. I really hope this one sticks around—it’s a welcome addition to the area.

Anvil Brewing Company in Royce City is such a hidden gem! It’s in downtown Royce City, this restaurant occupies the old fire station building, giving it a unique character that’s both inviting and cozy.

The staff and owners are absolutely amazing, making you feel right at home. It’s definitely a place where I felt welcomed and comfortable, despite not being particularly diverse. Green book approved.

The food and drinks are consistently good. But what I really love is that there’s always something happening! From poker nights to music bingo, you get more than just a good food. It’s a family-friendly spot with a designated area of toys for the kids, allowing you to enjoy your time even with your kids. Plus, I’ve seen dogs there so if that’s something you’re into it’s a plus. My husband really enjoys poker night on Wednesdays, and I had fun at music bingo on Friday nights. While I haven’t yet experienced their Saturday live music, I’ve heard it’s good!

Overall, Anvil Brewing Company is a must-visit. Great food, engaging activities, and a welcoming vibe make it an exceptional spot in Royce City!

My family and I went on a Sunday after church for brunch. It was our first time at this establishment and we were trying something new and different. I was excited to try this place for the first time and had been wanting to for a while. They had very little wait staff and were not very busy while we there. Our waitress took forever taking our order, bring us our food or attending to us at all. I had to get up and go find someone to even bring me a to-go box. The atmosphere was very dry and not very welcoming. The waitresses did not seem to be happy doing thier jobs. There were no smiling faces. The food took a long time to come out but that was the only thing worth the wait. I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT and sweet potato fries that were absolutely fantastic, my husband got the rueben sandwich and my daughter got another type of sandwich. We all throughly enjoyed the food. We also ordered a piece of carrot cake and that was delicious as well. Overall the food was great but the atmosphere and the service not so much!!

My family and I were really excited to try Anvil Brewing but instead of going out we ordered the food below for delivery. We live about a mile from the restaurant and delivery was right on time.

Shrimp & Gouda grits – I love Gouda cheese, but the grits didn’t have a consistent texture and tasted very bland. Shrimp was cooked well but would not order again.
Boneless Wings – were very dry
Brisket Fries – This tasted okay, but the portion size was small.
We were very disappointed in all items and probably will not give this another try.

We stopped in on a whim and we will be back soon! The appetizers we had were great! My wife has celiac and they had a ton of gluten free options that we will be back to try. Great selection of draft beer and a few of their own beers and hard sodas. Staff were awesome and friendly and we had a really great all around experience for a quick stop in. They also have two pool tables and plenty of seating. The building is an old fire station and very nice.

Anvil Brewing No. 2 – A Must-Try Spot in Downtown Royse City!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal, Anvil Brewing No. 2 is the place to be! For starters, I highly recommend the Reuben with sweet potato fries—this combo is tip-top notch! The tangy sauerkraut paired with the savory sweetness of the fries creates a perfect balance of flavors that will leave you wanting more.

But if you’re after something that will truly blow your mind, go for the Kristen Chicken Sandwich—but here’s the game-changer: ask for pimento cheese on it. Trust me, after one bite, you’ll never want a chicken sandwich from anywhere else again!

Beyond the amazing food, the customer service is top-tier. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles, and the owner herself will come by to chat, making you feel genuinely welcome. That personal touch makes all the difference!

Now, let’s talk pricing—incredibly reasonable. You get way more than what you pay for, and the portions are beyond generous. Just look at the size of that chicken sandwich!

And we have to give a special shoutout to Jayla, the bartender—she’s an absolute rockstar. Whether you want a classic cocktail or a custom drink made to perfection, she’s got you covered. Not only does she make amazing drinks, but she also has a fantastic personality that makes you feel right at home.

Anvil Brewing No. 2 gets a solid 10/10 in every category:

Great food and great service! They even have a play area inside with some small toys/dollhouses that kept my younger two entertained. My older kids enjoyed playing on the pool table while we relaxed and enjoyed delicious food and drinks! I think this place has great space for some live entertainment sometimes on the weekends.

This old fire station turned brewery is cool. The drinks were good, and I thought it was fun that they have theme days during the week. My server, Faith, was super friendly and made recommendations. I’ll have to go back for one of the theme days!

Glad that we tried a new restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was fun. It was music bingo night, which we were unaware of, but enjoyed it totally. We tried the Reuben sandwich, fried pickles, red pepper Gouda soup, and popper dip. Everything was as we hoped. We’ll definitely be back here again soon!
