Reservations are highly encouraged, but they were able to accommodate us just fine. The blueberry martinis were awesome. My husband’s lobster was delish. Try the calamari–so good. and my roasted romaine wedge with pickled beets, tomatoes that tasted like candy, and blue cheese was awesome.

I wish I could rate the food, but we chose not to try it due to the cold, dismissive, condescending, and blatantly unwelcoming reception we received upon arrival.
I first researched to confirm that the deck is first come, first served (reservations are accepted for other dining areas), and dog-friendly. Our party of three (two locals and me, an out-of-state visitor) was the first to arrive at 4:00 on a Tuesday; we were outside the door when a man came out to hang an “open” flag; he did not acknowledge us. We politely greeted him and inquired as to whether we should take my two (quiet, well-behaved) French Bulldogs through the restaurant or around the outside to the back (as most restaurants require). His first words to us were, “Do you have a reservation?” The answer was obviously “no”, as we have dogs and intended to be on the deck, where reservations are not accepted. He said, “Well, the only place you can be is on the deck”. Again, this was a fact to which we were already privy, being that we had dogs. He told us to go around back, and he returned inside.
We felt unwelcome and immediately decided to go elsewhere. The exchange implied that the restaurant is neither dog-friendly nor accepts walk-ins. Prior to leaving, I went inside to speak with the man and confirm that I’d not been mistaken, and that neither is the case.
I’m leaving this review to convey to ownership the complete lack of customer service being extended at their remotely-located establishment – I hope they are able to rectify this, and I wish them success. Meanwhile, our business will be taken to other, more conveniently-located restaurants where we receive a warm, welcoming reception and feel our patronage is appreciated.

The Anchor is a hidden gem on the coast of Maine that absolutely deserves your attention. From the moment you walk through the door, to the time that you leave, this is a restaurant that treats you well. The service was fantastic, and the food was among some of the best I’ve had in quite some time.

This is a gem!! The food is beyond awesome. So fresh and perfectly prepared, we all ordered vastly different items from the menu and it was all beyond fantastic. We return every year and they never disappoint. Top notch on all levels. Service. The view!!! The food was awesome. It is a definite YES to experience and you will return again and again.

My family and I had a very unpleasant & disappointing dining experience at The Anchor tonight. The menu itself was already severely lacking in every way however it was without ANY hesitation significantly OVER-priced across the board which I found shocking given the less than mediocre food and poor slow service.
By the time our slow inexperienced waiter finally made his way over to take our dinner order, we eventually learned a short time later that four of our selections were already completely sold out. This was at the very beginning of the evening and so I can’t fathom how a kitchen could be so unprepared and under-stocked at the very beginning of dinner on a busy Saturday night?
The $27 Lobster Popcorn appetizer I settled for was a complete and total JOKE as it consisted of just a VERY small amount of tiny fried lobster pieces mixed together with an abundance of actual popped popcorn…as well as a ton of unopped kernals? Altogether I found this to be rather offensive. We all left our dining experience still feeling hungry yet also quite annoyed by the unacceptable overpriced portions and less than adequate dining service.
Just to be clear, I do sincerely wish you folks nothing but success however I surely do hope you take immediate necessary actions to get a firm grip on REALITY when it comes to reasonable and appropriate prices that actually match the quality of the foods you serve via the service you provide, all before its too late!

Used to be the best restaurant in the area. This season it should lock the doors. Food was awful. Barely edible. French fries were greatly overcooked and should never have been put on the plate. Sorry but we won’t be back until the quality meets the exorbitant price and even then…..it’s sad to see this place go down. Felt sorry for the hard working waitstaff. The girls were so nice and seemed to be greatly overworked.

Such a beautiful spot right on Round Pond with an amazing view of the boats on the water. The staff was so friendly and attentive. It was an upscale place, but also great for little kids too. The food was incredible. The calamari is a must get. The banana sauce that came with it was so creative and delicious. Highly recommend this place during your next trip in the Bristol area!

Excellent food and service on busy Tuesday after labor day. (We made a 7:15 reservation) Only down side was while seated on the picturesque deck overlooking the water (amazing scene!!) they really need some overhead fans or corner fans to move the strangely not fall like hot humid air! It was brutally warm out there…everything else was wonderful!!

We walked into the restaurant for a late lunch and greeted by the manager with a warm smile….. Beautiful place with a beautiful view. She explained the large variety of the Maine beers and we made our choices… First thing… Lobster popcorn! You have to try it! Awesomeness! Our waiter was the sweetest and most professionally polite young man that catered to our every need…. We tried the crab avocado wrap and fish and chips… Oh and a blueberry martini! Wow!!!! What an experience! I cannot wait to go back and enjoy this wonderful placewith with such warmness!

A fried clam plate is NOT supposed to be BROWN in color! Especially when your charged almost $40. Change your chef or frying oil. Golden yellow is the accepted color for ANY fried seafood. The canned beer was delicious. Too bad, you have a nice location, won’t be coming back. Regards
