I’m writing this review after the second visit to the Anchor in Burwell…
This is honestly one of my favourite restaurants in the area, serving the best Thai food I’ve had so far!
All the dishes are so fresh and filled with flavour, we’ve tried the vibrant pad Thai, the slow cook beef massaman curry (a must have and I literally dreamt about this dish after I tried for the first time.. no joke) as well as crispy chilli squid and fried soft shell grab. All was a 10/10 for me and my partner!
Service is very fast and servers are very well mannered making the whole environment feel warm, cosy and chilled.
Highly recommend to all Thai food lovers to try

Wow what a place! I have been a few times for food. Each and every time it’s exceptional. So authentic, tasty and moreish. Burwell is very lucky to have a place like this, and would strongly recommend it to everyone. From time to time they have events too and there was a fantastic 12 piece Latin/Jazz band on Sunday (10-9-23) who were superb. What an atmosphere!

After going to another restaurant in newmarket for steak and wasn’t overly impressed.
Me and my pal decide Give anchor a try as Joe the owner recommended it and glad he did, absolutely cooked perfect for myself medium rare and the sauce was different to peppercorn but that is def a new favourite.
I also paid £20 less on each steak compared.
Joe thanks for a top, fast service great food and brilliant staff.
Highly recommend trying the steak if you go

Incredible food! We went a couple months ago and was blown away. We had the lunch menu and the food was reasonably priced and amazing! If you haven’t been you won’t be disappointed! Very friendly staff too.

Outstanding food, beautiful building, great service, well-kept beer, nice seating in evening sun – exceptional all round! We sampled 3 courses and all agreed it was the best pub meal we’d had for very a long time. Very fine cooking, but also the good beer is important to us, and with the great service and atmosphere combined to make a very enjoyable evening to linger over.

The food is great and the staff are friendly. I highly recommend this place if you love Thai food. It’s in a great spot near the river too, so great for a pit stop after a walk to Burwell Fen.

Went to eat with 3 people. The food was nice. The place was very cold though and the service was OK at most. We sat near a rear end and the server kept banging out of the door.

Love this place, grew up in Burwell and seen it change over the years. I’ve been here twice since its been with the new owners and the food is delicious and felt i could trust the chef with my dietary requirements which he adapted with no problem
