Great coffee, friendly environment with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, Wi-Fi, and a nice environment to study or chat. Part of the nearby church but you don’t have to worry about it being uncomfortable in some way because of that, they seem to do a good job of being very welcoming and chill. This spot has an abundance of space which is very nice. The food I tried was nice too but I only had a little bite so I can’t review that too.

Lovely atmosphere and ambience. Got a mocha and an iced matcha latte and they were both great. Matcha was perfect, not too sweet but also not too bitter. The food was also delicious. Plenty of seating options both indoor & outdoor. Will definitely be coming back here soon!!

I’ve come here before for the cherry vanilla latte which was a 5 star experience, I fell in love with the place. I made it a point to visit the Abbey again today as I was in Santa Cruz, hoping for a great cup of coffee. I took it to go and as I took a sip when I hit the road, it was SO sour. Like preground months old coffee from the grocery store sour. Also the sweetness of the blueberry vanilla latte was NOT balanced out like last time, so it was insanely sweet and sour. I figured it out halfway thru – there were literal grounds of coffee on the bottom of the cup, i don’t even know how grounds can possibly enter an espresso shot. Basically they rly messed up on this coffee. I hate to post a bad review for such a lovely cafe but for charging $8 a drink, this consistency is unacceptable

The Abbey in Santa Cruz is truly a gem. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcomed—they are professional, courteous, and attentive to every detail. The atmosphere is unlike any other: peaceful, beautifully clean, and filled with artistic touches that create a warm and creative environment. Whether you’re there to relax, connect, or simply enjoy the space, you always leave feeling uplifted. It’s rare to find a place that combines such excellent service with such a unique and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Such a vibe! One of the coziest cafes I have ever been to! I will make it a point to stop here everytime I come to Santa Cruz. Plus the staff was super friendly and wonderful to talk to.

Good vibes, nice decor and cozy ambience. Plenty of couches and antique sofas to sit and enjoy your cup of coffee, have a fun conversation with your friends. Tried their double chocolate mocha and it was good. Wish I had gotten it in a coffee mug as they ran out of it during closing time. Parking could be a little tricky and this place isn’t directly visible from the road.

Spacious, comfortable coffee shop near the entrance to UCSC. The Honey Badger is a honey and cinnamon latte – just a touch of sweetness, not cloying. The avocado toast is spicy and delicious – you can see the perfect eggs in the photo. I highly recommend this place, even in a town with an amazing coffee shop scene!

This is a super warm and wonderful space to work or study in. Their cold brew is delicious, and if you are in the mood for a pastry I highly recommend their morning bun. So good! Also, their décor is insanely cool.

Great food. But bathrooms were closed 15-20 min before the shop closes. Otherwise this would be a 5 star review.

Today I visited, am from out of town and needed to find a spot to eat and work for a couple of hours. The spot was wonderful and the employees who took my order were super nice. The food was good too.

It was close to 2pm and I looked up and noticed the bathrooms was closed for cleaning with a sign. At about 10mins til 2 an employee came by to kindly notify me they were going to close. So I packed up, but the bathrooms were still closed.

I’m in my 50s here and just drank a big cup of chai (good chai prepared by an employee) and I need to get back on the road — in a town that’s not really my home. I thought I’d ask to see if there may be other bathrooms available; afterall this coffee shop seems to be attached to a church. The employee I spoke to seemed to be willing to let me use it quickly but then a lady who was behind the counter interrupted and said “the bathrooms are closed. Sorry.” And honestly did not sound like she was sorry at all but more like she was holding a boundary. I guess I see the sign and that they have a right to do that. I gotta say, not feeling very cared for here and the amazing hospitality I felt up to the point just got thrown out the window.

Not sure if this is their usual practice. I’m a firm believer that coffee (dietetic drinks) places should provide bathrooms access to customers. So yeh, overall it was ok but not sure I’d return… bathrooms are important to me at this age. I then found a gas station across the street and used their bathroom.

Wonderful dudes behind the counter though. Thanks for the lovely service.
