Now, obviously, due to the ambience, your expectations are high. The menu and decor are minimalistic, modern, and focused. Your table is set up on a clean surface, with modern china. And the same ethos is present throughout every presentation of each dish.
Every dish came out to be Instagram ready and the taste was quite good as well. Some blemishes to call out though. The steak was not medium rare on a steak & eggs. The egg on the pork belly was a bit overcooked. In the contrary, the bacon burger was perfect with juicy pattys and tasteful sauce.
The 7th St Standard is set up well. The ambience does a lot of the heavy lifting in setting the mood right, and you just have to provide solid dishes. The restaurant itself isn’t that big which helps with the not-so-industrial feeling. And Noa, our server was really friendly.
You won’t be blown away. But you will certainly leave happy. It’s great for a date night or a business meal with drinks. And yes, upscale brunch too.
She created a “9 to 5 Blues” mocktail for me that was beyond amazing. Shortly after, she brought out my happy hour selections, and both were absolutely mouthwatering:
• Pork Belly Bites – Teriyaki glaze, cashew satay sauce, green onions
• 7th Street Smash Burger – Brandt Prime burger blend, caramelized onions, cheddar, harissa aioli on a brioche bun
Between the excellent service and the outstanding happy hour appetizers, I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend asking for Angelina if you stop in!
Supurb service and excellent coffee.
We had the best and cutest server named Noa. Give her a raise immediately; she was such a light! Unfortunately, the food was forgettable. 10/10 do not recommend the $23 shrimp tacos (two). The batter on the shrimp was flavorless, and the toppings and sauce were very lacking. My partner’s breakfast sandwich was subpar; the greens were bitter and mushy.
The ambiance and decor were great, but sharing a bathroom with men was diabolical. I walked into a stall with urine sprayed everywhere, an unflushed toilet, and the seat up.
We were definitely tricked by the ratings.
Order the short ribs, you won’t be disappointed!
The breakfast hash is the best!
They have a great happy hour at the bar!
We ordered the Caesar salad to share and for dessert the hazelnut cream puff and lemon tart.
Dinner was amazing!
Unfortunately I can only leave 4 stars because the gender neutral restroom layout felt really uncomfortable. I’m fine sharing a restroom but this layout was very strange and felt like a way to cut corners and not have to spend money on separate spaces. I didn’t feel safe going into a stall. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough! I’m sorry but the restroom may be one thing that will stop me from coming back or recommending this restaurant.
I gave the creole shrimp with corn which was pretty decent though arguably nothing to write home about. A side of bread with salted butter was appetizing but also nothing crazy.
The real treat was the berry cream puff and the old fashion. The cream puff was very flavorful but well balanced between the tartness of the berry and the cream. Meanwhile the old fashion was well mixed and went down smooth.
