Our waitress, Canadace was great from the start. Attentive and checked on us plenty of times. The tuna (I ordered medium) was delicious. The wasabi makes it amazing. I added risotto which was perfect made my meal complete. My wife got the pickled hen. She enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The fries were good as well. old fashion 1851 was perfect, had maple, but not over powering. Our friends had clam chowder and chicken Milanese. Both meals were delicious. We will definitely be back.

The 1851 was amazing! I went for friends and family night and the staff was so welcoming and the food and cocktails were delicious! I got the chicken caesar salad with the lime in the coconut margarita and it was very good. I will definitely be returning here!

I want to love this place because it’s so close to home and I’ve followed the other businesses run out of here over the years. The reality is this – it’s the same old place, probably with less quality on the food side. The chicken in my chicken sandwich was fried so long it was tough to the chew. The flatbread was sloppy with way too much cheese and sauce. My Old Fashioned was made to perfection, but for $15 a drink I’d expect as much. The server was friendly and responsive.

Wow! Thank you for opening a wonderful restaurant! My wife and I ate there last night and were raving about the food all night. The lemon dry-rub wings and stuffed pork chop with delicious sauce were out of this world. My wife has a allium allergy (garlic, onion, shallots, etc), and the chef specially prepared a salad dressing for her Harvest salad and salmon dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. Service staff (Candace) was also very attentive. We were heading to a show in Hartford and she worked with the kitchen to get us out the door in time. We will be back soon.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having dinner at The 1851 with friends the other night. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Their craft cocktails were tasty which is always fun. They’ve done an amazing job of transforming the restaurant, which has been through many changes over the years, into a place that’s warm and welcoming. We were most impressed though with the staff who took the time to make us feel like friends rather than just the next customer. Kudos to The 1851. We’ll be back again for sure !

From the apps (Mac attack egg rolls and poutine- YUM!) to the entrees (bolognese and Spaghetti squash) to the mocktails, our whole meal was delightful! Amazing atmosphere and spectacular service- friendly and helpful!
This is the owner’s second restaurant and both are fantastic, but it’s so obvious that this one is going to take off and be THE SPOT in Cromwell!

Mac attack eggrolls were good. Black and Bleu burger was juicy but not blackened. The pickled hen chicken sandwich was overcooked and pounded too thin. Candace was a great waitress. It was quiet for a Friday night.

1851 in Cromwell is an absolute gem. The cocktails are on another level—whoever designed that drink menu is basically a mad genius with a shaker. Every sip had me questioning why I ever settled for “just okay” drinks anywhere else.

My meal was downright fantastic—so good I considered licking the plate but decided to maintain at least a little dignity. The atmosphere is cozy but classy, and the staff makes you feel like you’re their favorite customer.

If you haven’t checked out 1851 yet, do yourself a favor and go. I’m already planning my next visit.

We decided to stop for some after work food and drinks last night and we weren’t disappointed. All of the apps and entrees were fresh and served hot, we ate every bite; drinks were delicious too. Our server Maeve was amazing – very attentive and sweet, and made great recommendations. Would 100% recommend, we will definitely be back.
