Our family came to town to spend two day at the Great Wolf Lodge and all of the reviews of the GWL said to avoid eating there at all costs, so we wanted to check out other local restaurants.

We were so happy that we stumbled upon The 1761 Old Mill because it truly is a gem. The restaurant is massive, and we came in for a mid-week lunch and the restaurant had plenty of seating.

Walking from the parking lot there is a beautiful waterfall and an old bridge. Beware of the geese/ducks as they are very friendly. No issues for us but I heard from others that they sometimes scare little kids. It was funny that they were waiting at the door when we were done with our meal. (Please don’t feed the birds).

The restaurant is a classic. Well maintained space with very friendly staff. Every person we talked to was very cheery and helpful.

As for the food itself, the adult and kids meals were a fantastic deal. Massive portions with the popular pecan rolls and corn fritters as starters are free with the meal! Worth the trip just for the rolls and fritters (yes they do sell them to take more home)! Food quality was exactly what you would expect of this place. Not gourmet but delicious and will leave you stuffed.

If we are ever back in the area, we will certainly eat here again and will recommend to friends staying at the Great Wolf Lodge.

The pecan rolls and corn fritters were amazing!! The prices were great, and the meals were fantastic. The place was cozy, service was friendly and helpful, 10/10 I see why this place is a favorite. And you can feed the ducks! (@AMP_EATS on Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok)

From the minute we pulled into the parking area we knew this restaurant would be special. The building was a former sawmill and has lots of character. Outside there is a duck pond and covered bridges leading to the restaurant.

We were seated by the window with views of the river, and a beautiful stone fireplace. Our server brought us a basket of corn fritters with maple syrup, and warm pecan buns, that were a real treat.

We both ordered the chicken and vegetable pot pie and it was delicious. A pleasant surprise was when we were leaving the restaurant, we saw a box of complimentary duck food to feed the feathered guests outside. It was a wonderful lunch and we will definitely be back.

We went to this restaurant with friends and really enjoyed it! The vintage building is charming with so much character, and the view by the pond was beautiful—there were even ducks, and kids could feed them with the free food provided. They started us off with pecan rolls and corn fritters, both fresh and absolutely delicious. The food itself was good—the steak was decent, not the best, but still tasty. The real highlight, though, was the setting: a little waterfall nearby and a lovely wedding setup with an arch and chairs. Such a great spot for a party or wedding—I’d definitely go back!

I come here every October to enjoy the beautiful scenery. There’s a garden behind the restaurant that’s perfect for weddings, and the views are stunning! Listening to the flowing falls, The Old Mill offers a unique, serene atmosphere. The restaurant is always busy during meal times, and I look forward to visiting again in the future!

We really enjoyed our visit! The service was excellent — staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the drinks were fantastic. What I really loved was how accommodating they were with custom requests for both adults and kids — it felt like they genuinely cared about making everyone happy. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy a meal. Between the great service, big portions, and tasty food, it’s definitely one of my go-to spots. I’ll be coming back soon, knowing that everyone will have a great experience and leave satisfied.

The best part about the food was the pecan rolls and the salad. It all fell apart when they brought out the short ribs that reminded me of chunky soup, and teriyaki sause for the steak tip (over cooked) gross. It was a Sysco food reheated,
buffet. Old Mill….you are better than that!!!!!

It was a water powered saw mill back in 1761. For the last 80 years, a restaurant. They kept the old world charm throughout the complex. The pond and waterfall make it a peaceful idyllic setting. The food was very flavorful. My chicken pot pie was delicious. Although the chicken was a bit tough. The fresh baked pecan rolls and the fritters served as you arrive at your table are quite a treat. Our waitress was perfect. Friendly and helpful. Properly attentive without being overbearing.

So relaxing. A very pleasant lunch.

I stumbled across the Old Mill by chance looking for a place to eat, so glad I did. I’m from Oregon and I have never seen or been in a restaurant situated on the water like this before . (No Mills like this) Great aesthetics , vibe, especially lit up at night. I dig that kinda thing, loved the ambiance . We both had pork chops with red potatoes ,came with a salad , corn fritters, and pecan roll. We did not go away hungry! Plenty of food that was delicious . I thought they had a decent variety of beer on tap for different tastes . Staff was super friendly, attentive, and helpful. Ample seating in restaurant . We sat in the pub so pictures of pub inside . Menu is the same in restaurant as it is in the pub.

Simply the best! We had our wedding here because it’s been a family favorite restaurant for generations and we had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. A year later our guests continue to tell us that it’s the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding and about how much fun we all had. Rhetta was a dream to work with throughout the wedding and was even kind enough to help us arrange our first anniversary dinner a year later. The food (both at wedding buffet and in the dining room) is classic and excellent, the wine selections and handcrafted cocktails are delicious, and the service is always 10/10. Can’t wait to come back!
