Smaller than expected. Food was okay. We had ordered the Short Rib Sandwich that was on special. Espresso martini was not great. Service was good. Overall 3/5.

Oh my goodness…delicious food, exceptional service, & a great atmosphere. If want a quiet place to dine, go upstairs. We had the upstairs dining area all to ourselves until about 630 p.m. Food was amazing! The empty bowl was a cesar salad that we crushed before I could even take a picture. The appetizer dumplings we definitely recommend ordering. We had the short ribs pizza. They have all sorts of house specialty cocktails & interesting beers. Our 2 waiters were so friendly & very helpful with our questions. Atmosphere is great. We love all of the wood features throughout the restaurant. The inside is beautiful!!! We highly recommend you stop here on your way through Scranton. We will be going back.

My wife and I made reservations here for our date night. Was sat at a small table upstairs for 2 next to the bar. Kind of wish it was in the front room where it was a little quieter. We were greeter in a timely manner by the waiter. We were a little disappointed in the drink selections but there was still a few that met our taste. We decided to share everything with each other on our date. So we got the wedge salad, artichoke dip, and the short rib pizza. We each got the whiskey smash as our drink. Drinks were delicious as well as all the food. We were a little disappointed with the service as our waiter never came back to check on us or see if we wanted another drink. A bar tender came out from behind the bar and tended to us finally. After dinner we had some desserts to share. A Russian honey cake and a pretzel cake. Both were ok but not as good as the main food. We each enjoyed an espresso martini. Overall it was a nice restaurant and good food. Drinks were on the expensive side. 2 whiskey smash each and the 2 espresso martinis was close to $80.

What a delicious surprise. From the over 18 beers on tap to the delicious pizza. This spot has excellent food, service, and ambiance.
The patio allows pups too. Win/win for a wonderful evening. And yes – get the pizza and the dumplings.

From the moment we entered this place I knew it was something special. Very speakeasy type vibes. The entire staff and especially the owner were absolutely incredible. The drinks, the food, the mood was super. I haven’t had an experience like this in a long time. This place will definitely be on my short list of go to spots. I feel like you can order anything on the menu and you will be supremely happy. I know I will be. Top notch.

Superb. We ended up stopping in Scranton on a cold Sunday night in January, and luckily ended up here. Every dish was excellent, drinks were equally good, my wife’s amaretto sour was the best. Great atmosphere, total gem.

I had pepperoni honey pizza as an appetizer and it was hot and delicious you could taste the honey!! I had an entree that was pasta with calamari and with scallops! It was served hot and it was full of flavor of all the things mentioned. I also enjoyed a nitro beer similar to Guiness . Great service and atmosphere and awesome food that didn’t break the bank.

I thought I previously gave this restaurant a wonderful 5-star review and came on to reduce it – my response to theirs is included at the bottom. The dining experience has always been fantastic, especially considering that we can take advantage of two mileage dining rewards programs, particularly when there’s a special bonus miles offer going on. On our last visit, which we timed with a 250 mile bonus from both Alaska Airline’s Atmos and American Airlines Aadvantage mileage programs. I went to the extra effort of reading every detail of the offer and made sure to “Activate” the offer on both websites. I then eagerly awaited getting emails that acknowledged that we did an eligible dine along with a hyperlink to complete a review and thus satisfy the requirements of the bonus, but after spending more of my time and effort doing a message through their websites I was told that there are blackout days which can be determined any day within 24 hours and that it is our responsibility to check every day that we plan to dine at a qualifying restaurant such as The 16th Ward. I do very much hold the mileage programs accountable, but that does not let The 16th Ward off the hook – they are the executioners of this deceitful tactic to cheat loyal mileage and restaurant customers out of what they pretend to offer. I will also mention that we have spent hundreds of dollars at this restaurant rather than at others simply to get the mileage points, so it’s not like they don’t benefit from taking part in the mileage programs. I would not be writing this review if my extra-EXTRA effort of making a call to the mileage program’s call center (they both use the same contracted company so you’re basically talking to them both on the same call) and being quite surprisingly RUDEly denied a “one-time courtesy” credit since this is new to me (sorry I didn’t read the fine print of this and every other rewards program that I’ve ever used) and that I’m not entitled to speak with a supervisor…even the wording of their policies read by the representative felt like a middle finger to my face, and The 16th Ward is in collaboration with this mileage dining scam which completely surprises me when considering how fantastic the food, service and ambiance are at the restaurant. I marked 5 stars for food and ambiance and 1 star for service not because the servers and hosts did a bad job but it’s the best shot I can take at the manger(s)/owner(s) that have anything to do with this. I think we will still continue to dine here since we do truly enjoy eating there, but it will be far less often and with at least a fair amount of a feeling of bitterness festering inside me. I hope they still stay a part of the mileage programs but merely get rid of the blackout dates – if they do so I will change this review back to five stars like it would be without the terrible experience of being deceived by a restaurant we wouldn’t have guessed would do such a thing.
REPLY TO RESTAURANT’S REPLY:
I will be clear that I hold the mileage program more at fault than the restaurant but have not found a way to “stick it to them” as of yet as it is fully in their powers to give me the reward miles as a one-time courtesy on this unfortunate occasion as I truthfully had no clue there was such a thing at this restaurant or any other. If you look at my reviews you will see that the majority of them are 5 stars as I more often want to help the restaurant or other business succeed than to leave a critical review. Whenever I do so it is with the hopes of things improving, not just simply to complain. I hope you can appreciate that I didn’t “go for the jugular” with a one-star review across the board and instead did my best to make a legitimate complaint with hopes of some sort of positive end result on both ends. I do greatly appreciate your reply despite the slight defensive tone as it also promises at least some type of action on your end. I am improving my review slightly in appreciation. I will still do 5 stars if blackout dates are removed.
