Thanyawana: A Jungle Gem in the Heart of Khao Sok, Thailand
Reviews
My girlfriend and I walked up to what o thought was the entrance but were told to board a golf buggy that wizzed us down a lane to the actual restaurant set back from the busy main street. A little touch of novelty service that started the night off on a good note.
We were greeted off the buggy by friendly staff that guided us to our seat who’d was outside my the lake. The décor and landscaping are beautifully executed and clearly designed with care with surrounding wildlife adding the perfect ambiance. I’d advise bug spray. Not that we were bothered but we were wearing it.
The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the mixed dish he had for a shared starter. The drinks were nice and the service was second to none.
I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re in Khao Sok and fancy a treat
We came as a group of four and ended up staying for several great hours.
The cocktails are fantastic and the happy hour is definitely worth it. The place has a stunning Japanese-inspired design and is located right on the lake, which makes the atmosphere absolutely magical.
Highly recommend coming while it’s still light outside so you can really enjoy the view
Delicious cocktail.
A tom yum goong with a perfect balance of flavours.
Mango sticky rice – restaurant quality.
Lovely well trained serving staff.
Peaceful setting – serenaded by a chorus of frogs
It’s about 300 meters walk from the main street, and there are sometimes golf carts that can take you to and from there, which makes it easier.
We came here on our first night in Khao Sok for dinner, and had such great FOMO regarding the rest of the food we didn’t try, so we came back the following day both for lunch & dinner 🙂
All of the food was super delicious, with great value for money.
The service was absolutely amazing, I don’t think I’ve encountered such professional service in Thailand during our 2.5 weeks trip so far.
Moreover, the view is absolutely exceptional – they have a japanese inspired garden at the restaurant’s entrance, an amazing blue lake you literally dine in front of, and a man made waterfall.
All of these look stunning in the dark, but we could really appreciate the beauty only when we had our lunch here, and even walk around the property and took some stunning pictures.
On our first dinner we had a papaya salad, chicken khao soy, tom kha gai soup, pad see ew & black pepper pork.
This was probably the best meal we’ve had here, also might be due to the fact that we didn’t expect such high quality food & service in such a destination like Khao Sok.
Our favorites were the chicken khao soy, black pepper stir fried pork & tom kha gai soup.
On our lunch the following day we had their rice paper spring rolls, papaya salad, panang curry with beef and ginger stir fried pork.
Yet again, all of the food was great, but our favorite were the fresh spring rolls that were served with an amazing chili sauce.
On our last dinner here, we decided to go for our favorite dishes from the two previous meals so we ordered again the black pepper stir fried pork, papaya salad & chicken khao soy.
We also tried two new dishes – pad thai with shrimps & Miang kham. The dishes we were familiar with didn’t disappoint, but the new ones we could probably skip as they weren’t as successful and didn’t meet our expectations.
To conclude, if you’re looking for a restaurant that has it all – great food, exceptional service & stunning scenery views, you cannot miss out on this one!!
Would highly recommend if you are in the area
The sound of the cicadas and frogs made it unique.
Good food and very friendly staff.
The service was top-notch and the meals were so tasteful. After some time in Thailand it feels amazing to eat food so good without being fried. We’ll be back. Thank you
The highlight – the place itself is beautiful, the service is amazing, and there is a natural pool you can swim in.
Overall, worth it.
