On a positive note, the customer service was genuinely great. The staff was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.
One thing to keep in mind, they charge a $3 parking fee just to park there, so factor that into your visit.
Overall, I’d say the hospitality was there, but the food needs some serious improvement. Hopefully they can work on their recipes because the potential is there.
Update: Came back here 5 months later with my parents and great aunt. Everyone loved it. The brisket pho was just as good as I remembered. The fried beef dumplings were also incredible! I’ve confirmed that Thank U Pho is consistent. Still highly recommended.
Update: I’m back a year after my last visit, and the pho is still as good as ever. The brisket in particular is quite good, but everything was super yummy. Great broth, great meat, and plenty of sauces. Still love it.
Being a pho enthusiast, I’ve sampled numerous pho spots across the US and internationally. Regrettably, the pho from Thank U Pho didn’t quite meet the mark. The beef broth lacked depth and tasted somewhat generic. I suspect they might use premade mixes rather than the authentic beef bone method. For me, a good broth defines a pho experience, and this one fell short.
The noodles initially felt rigid but softened slightly in the lukewarm broth. The chicken, unfortunately, was tough, raising questions about its freshness or storage.
On the brighter side, the accompanying ingredients like sprouts, basil, and jalapeno were fresh and generously portioned, adding a nice crunch and flavor to the dish. Thank U Pho nailed the sides.
The vermicelli in the spring rolls shared a similar texture issue. Furthermore, the peanut sauce, while decent, didn’t stand out compared to others I’ve tried.
Kudos to Thank U Pho for their careful delivery packaging, though I’d urge them to reconsider their use of Styrofoam for sustainability reasons. The packaging did its job in ensuring no spills.
In summary, Thank U Pho’s pho was a 4 out of 10 for me. With the richness of the broth improved, it could easily climb to a 6 or 7. Given the plethora of pho options nearby, it wouldn’t be my top pick. However, for convenience, it’s an option, albeit one that’s distinctly average.
