This cozy, family-run spot makes you feel right at home. You can truly taste the touch of a mother’s cooking in every dish – prepared with care and love you’d expect from a home kitchen.
We were warmly welcomed by (I believe) the son-in-law, Evan – such a friendly and attentive host who made our evening even more special with his genuine hospitality.
We had the Tom Yum prawn soup, Crab Rangoon, fried calamari, green shrimp curry, Pad Thai, Chilli Ginger Pork – and ended with banana fritters & coconut ice cream
Every bite was full of flavor and heart.
What was disappointing was the food we had … I’m not sure if it was just an off day for them? To start off, we ordered the green papaya salad, I didn’t expect it to taste super sweet and it had a bit too much sauce for our liking. Their green curry came out lukewarm, I appreciate how it wasn’t super sweet but it doesn’t come with rice, you have to order it. We got their coconut rice but maybe they made a mistake because our rice tasted like regular white rice? We did not particularly enjoy the thai basil stir fry, it also had way too much sauce pooled at the bottom and the flavour fell flat. Their best dish we got was probably the spicy drunken noodles, it’s filling due to the thick rice noodles but I noticed they do skimp on the protein.
Overall, the price you are paying for their dishes just felt like it wasn’t worth for the quantity & quality you are getting. The taste of the dishes we ordered didn’t wow us either. Usually when you take a bite of something delicious it hits the spot but unfortunately we didn’t experience that here, everything just felt quite underwhelming.
* Chicken Satay: great flavour and nicely done.
* Crab Rangoon: hands down the best we’ve ever had — I’ll be dreaming about these!
* Tom Kha Soup: rich, tasty, and full of depth.
* Gaeng Kiew Waan (Green Curry): excellent balance of spice and creaminess.
* Pad Ta-Kai Chicken: absolutely excellent.
* Khaow Pad Kapraow (Basil Fried Rice with Beef): had a smoky flavour — not everyone at the table loved it, but it was unique.
Overall, an outstanding meal with fantastic flavours. Highly recommend the crab Rangoon and green curry in particular.
We ordered:
Chicken & Beef skewers – flavorful and juicy, not dry at all
Green curry chicken – rich in spices, tasty but not overly spicy
Thai chicken fried rice – nicely done, every grain separated and not greasy
(Yes, everything was chicken I guess we had a thing with chicken that day!)
The food came out quickly, no long wait.
Prices were reasonable — we ordered three dishes and the total was just over $60 for two people.
The best part: Finally found Thai food in Canada that isn’t sweet!! ❤️
Would definitely go back again
The beef skewers in my opinion could use a bit more work to really hit flavor town, and we would have loved to see the dry spices on the side of the pad thai worked into the noodles beforehand rather than left separate.
That said, these are very minor critiques. Overall the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I am really looking forward to dining in next time, as we all know that is a completely different experience.
Keep up the great work team, and I hope this feedback is taken in the positive spirit it is intended.
