I ordered Soft shell crap curry with rice. Really tasty, and size is good
This meal has become another memory of mine of stumbling on great authentic and comfy Asian food, on an exploratory road trip, in the most unexpected places. Last time it was a ramen restaurant in a remote Colorado village.
However, our visit today was unfortunately disappointing. The restaurant closes at 8:00 PM, and we arrived around 6:00 PM. At that time, there were about three large tables already cleaned and empty, but we were still asked to wait. We waited for about 30 minutes, and it seemed that the tables were being cleared quite slowly. In the end, we were seated around 7:00 PM, which left us with only about one hour to finish our meal before closing.
During this time, there was also an interaction with a female staff member at the cashier (the one with long hair) that made the experience uncomfortable. When I asked if there was a Thai staff member available, she responded by saying she could not understand my English. She also mentioned that the Thai desserts cost $4 per bag and asked if I was sure I wanted to buy them. The way this was communicated made me feel uncomfortable.
While we were eating, the staff started clearing dishes very quickly, even while we were still finishing our food, which made it feel as if we were being rushed to leave. In fact, we finished and left the restaurant around 7:40 PM, which was still 20 minutes before closing.
I want to be fair and say that the food is still good and the restaurant itself is nice. However, this interaction unfortunately affected the overall experience for my family. With a more welcoming and respectful approach, the waiting time would not have been an issue for us at all. I hope this feedback can help improve the customer experience in the future.
We also ordered their Thai tea slushie special and it was a disappointment unfortunately. We didn’t want to be mean, but I should’ve said something. $8 for each I believe and you get a 16oz cup practically half filled with air bubbles. Tasted like bad tea slurpy air bubbles. I poured my cup into my girlfriend’s after one sip and it basically filled it up as if that was the actual portion. I wanted to complain and didn’t want us to pay for it, but since we felt bad that they even have this restaurant there, we just took the drink and slowly finished it. I suggest not to get it if it’s still on the menu or I hope they made it better! 😀
Service was amazing though and it’s a cute shop being next to the small airport. Give them a try, but don’t expect much!
Slow service on my visit, understandable due to all the literally filthy climbers, myself included. (Was at the Buttermilk boulders earlier). If you have a large group please call in ahead of time so you do not cause undue distress to the employees and the other people who are waiting around in more manageable party sizes.
I also appreciated as a former Thailand resident, the absence of chopsticks and a silent video explaining how to use fork and spoon in an authentic Thai manner. There were also condiment caddies at each table, which is a rarity.
10/10 for lonely plane spotters.
10/10 for climbers.
ขอบคุณมากๆนะครับ อร่อยจริงๆ ผมจะเนนำร้านนี้ถึงทุกเพื่อบ อิอิ
During a Thanksgiving trip in 2025, we dined in and found the restaurant extremely busy, with many dishes sold out. While inconvenient, we understood it was a holiday weekend. Remembering that experience, during our most recent visit in MLK weekend of January 2026, we decided to be considerate and place a takeout order in advance, planning to eat back at our hotel rather than adding to the dinner rush.
We called while still at the climbing crag, where cell reception and internet signal are very limited. Only one phone in our group could make calls. When I reached the restaurant, the automated system said there were four callers ahead of me. I waited over 30 minutes before a male staff member finally answered.
I placed an order for 4 half duck dishes with different flavors. When I asked to add a pork dish my friend had enjoyed during his previous visit, the staff member told me they no longer offered it and immediately instructed me to “go check the menu online and call back.” His tone was rude and dismissive, and I was not given any opportunity to explain that I had already waited a long time or that my phone signal was poor.
Concerned that he might hang up, I told him I would skip the pork dish and continue with the order. I then asked to add a papaya salad or just some regular salad, only to be told it was unavailable and once again instructed to check the website and call back. At that point, I said I was fine proceeding with just the duck dishes as my full order.
Before I could finish speaking, he hung up on me.
I understand that restaurants in Bishop can get busy, especially on weekends. However, repeatedly telling a customer to hang up and call back after a long wait — and ultimately hanging up mid-sentence — is completely unacceptable. This wasn’t just poor service; it was a lack of basic respect. Unfortunately, this experience has made us reconsider returning to a place we once liked.
When I politely asked if I could order a coffee to go, the young man who was taking orders snapped back, “You can see I’m busy,” with no courtesy, no “please,” and no basic professionalism. There was zero sense of hospitality.
If you’re absolutely starving and have no other option, maybe this place will do. Otherwise, I’d skip it.
