BLUF: a must visit, great flavor, good apps, and a well stocked bar.

Three of us visited this joint on a Friday night. We were seated immediately and presented a menu that had more selections than a Greek diner. Too many choices is usually an indicator of lower quality, but such was definitely not the case. We had drinks, appetizers, sushi and a traditional red curry.

The Tuna tacos were nicely made and were a good start.

I love red curry and use this as my litmus test for any Thai place. The way I see it, If you can’t make red curry then you should just shut the door and go home. Well, I was quite happy with the choice, as the dish was well balanced and flavored just as I would expect: spice level was good (medium was great), vegetables nice and crunchy.

We chose sushi from the chef selections: Phuket, Flame and Victoria Secret rolls. All very good, with the Phuket the clear winner and highly recommended. I loved the idea of fusing a sushi roll with the curry.

Wait staff was excellent: prompt and polite, pleasant and quick to take orders and check on the customer.

We had two rounds of drinks, before and after our meal. The staff were available and we never felt rushed nor pestered.

I will definitely return to see if the rest of the expansive menu will achieve the quality of what I’ve already tasted.

My partner and I have been to Thai Tara twice now and we both were so impressed each time. Everything we’ve ordered has been delicious and this has become our go-to spot when we’re craving Asian food in Williamsburg. All the Thai food options are amazing & flavorful, and the sushi is so fresh! Additionally the staff are lovely and friendly, and the atmosphere is so cozy. I would highly recommend this spot 🙂

We have a friend who works at a high-end restaurant in Williamsburg, but when he asked his chef what his favorite restaurant is, the answer was Thai Tara. We had to check it out. And ended up loving it so much that we went twice in one week. The ingredients are fresh, the offerings are both traditional and imaginative, and the service is excellent. We are already talking about our next visit.

I loved everything about this restaurant from the ambiance to the quality service and top tier recipes. Our waitress was super attentive and made sure we have everything we needed.

We came on a Friday night about 5:30pm and it was starting to get busy. By the time we left people were waiting to sit down.

I will definitely be back here. If you love good thai food or good sushi this is a great spot, plus super close to busch gardens for a meal before/ after the park.

Ambiance is a 5. Nice bar in the center with large monitor streaming football game. Clean booths, modern touches like shiny concrete floors, wave tiles surrounding bar, large Thai god face behind bar. Fairy lights line the windows, tastefully done. There’s a sushi counter off to the side where sushi chef created his sushi creations.
Service was great, a 5. They sat me down immediately. Served water as I asked.
There was a large party that were seated right behind me. I wanted to be moved so they were gracious about it.
There are so many different food selections that I’ve not seen at most other restaurants like their crispy soft shells, minced chicken with fried egg, etc etc. I didn’t want to order typical curry dishes so I asked for recommendation. The server recommended the grilled steak with garlic pepper, which I ordered. I asked for medium well with very slight pink but it was well done! The steak came swimming with brown sauce (tasted oyster sauce) and blanched cabbage, carrots and mushrooms. It was good, I’d say a 4!
I will definitely come back to try the other dishes, maybe even the typical curry to compare with other restaurants.

This was one of, if not the best small plate Asian restaurants I have ever been to.

The tiger crying steak was possibly the best steak I have ever had in my life. The cucumber sauce that accompanied it was also a 10/10. I legit ordered a second plate of it after we finished the first because it was exceptional.

We also tried a couple specials which were great, the edamame was correctly cooked, and the tom kha soup had great balance.

All of the entrees were delicious and the portions to price ratios were fantastic

Cannot recommend highly enough

Great place to eat! Emily was an excellent server. We ordered a TON of food and it all came out super fast. We tried sushi rolls, Thai dishes (noodles, curry), soups and desserts. This meal was a highlight of our trip to Williamsburg.

So far, after discovering Thai Tara, I’ve gone two nights in a row to begin fully exploring their menu. On the second of those nights, I ordered additional menu items to accompany my leftovers.

Everything that I’ve ordered and experienced has been delicious. I look forward to repeat visits to continue exploring their other delicious menu offerings as well as their very warm and welcoming staff.

WOW. Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner and were so pleasantly surprised. This unassuming restaurant has food and service that easily match many fine dining establishments (and exceed some). We were blown away by how good every drink and dish were, and by the speed and attentiveness of the staff. In addition, everyone seemed so genuinely friendly and welcoming. This may not be what you came to Williamsburg for, but it’s a place you need to stop at while you’re here.
