I also got the pad Thai with chicken and medium spice (I could’ve done spicy or Thai hot), it was lunch so it came with hot & sour soup and everything was delicious. The service was wonderful and the decor inside is beautiful but unfortunately it was a small crowd, dinner may be different!
Parking was easy out front free for 2 hrs with the app. I may have found my Thai/Sushi home in the Heights.
The portions weren’t huge but still filling. The tom yum tasted more like a Vietnamese-style hot and sour soup than a traditional tom yum, but it was still tasty. The tom kha was decent, though I’ve had better elsewhere. The drunken noodles were moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The pad woon sen was very flavorful as well. All the dishes had generous portions of meat.
The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. The decor was modern and stylish. I’ll definitely be back to try some more dishes.
Chutoro larb tartare 4/5. Super flavorful!
Billionaire bite (nigiri) 3/5
Tom Yum soup 5/5
Pad see eew 5/5
Grill river prawn with seafood sauce 5/5
Pad kra pow 4/5
We ordered the zapp wings (you have to try if you love lemon pepper-esque wings) they offered a tangy and roasty flavor and were quite addictive. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and had a very umami sauce that the rice soaked up perfectly. The scallop in the yuzu sauce was also amazing! I drank up the sauce it was that good. Another must try was the grilled river prawn- this dish is not commonly found in the US but is a huge hit in Thailand, and across Asia- and if you love tamale, you’ll love this dish. The headbutter was creamy and decadent, and the river prawn was juicy and had that charred flavor we love from a good charcoal grill. I’d come back for this dish alone. The tom yum kha and papaya salads were honorable mentions, but comparatively speaking on the more petite sizing for cost. Overall I’d be back time and time again!
Overall, everything was great and I’d love to come back!
Thai Tapas is located near our home and is one of our favorite Thai places near us. We particularly like the pad see ew, tom yum soup, oysters, and panang curry.
We have gotten the spice levels two to four before, and the levels 2-3 are easy to handle. The level four has a kick to it, and an especially extra kick for the panang curry and papaya salad, but not too bad on the other dishes.
We have tried a sushi roll once, but honestly, it was a pass. I would just get the Thai dishes.
I got the tom yum soup when I was feeling a bit sick, and it was perfect. The tom yum was a good balance between sweet and sour. The panang curry is sweet and spicy and comes with a good amount of rice. The pad see ew and pad Thai are consistent. The osyters come with this thick, sweet and spicy sauce, which goes well on top of the oysters.
Service was efficient and very nice every time I have visited, and there is plenty of free parking (for two hours). Thai Tapas has a variety of dishes and is one if my go-to for Thai food in the Heights.
