Thai Som Boon, Mona Vale (Southern Highlands)
I recently dined at Thai Som Boon, Monavale, and overall, I had a lovely experience. The food was absolutely delicious—authentic Thai flavors that really hit the spot. Every dish we tried was well prepared and bursting with freshness. It’s clear that the chefs take pride in their craft.
The waitstaff were also a highlight of our visit. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
However, I did want to mention one point of concern. There was a lady behind the counter, who I believe is one of the owners, and her demeanor was quite cold and unwelcoming. It was a bit surprising, especially since she is the front face of the restaurant. A warm smile and friendly interaction can really set the tone for guests, and I think it would elevate the overall atmosphere of the place.
Despite this, I would recommend Thai Som Boon, Mona vale for the wonderful food and excellent service from the waitstaff. I look forward to returning for another meal, and hopefully, the atmosphere will feel a bit more welcoming next time

Wow, the food was way better than I thought it would be, and it was so yummy! The Blue Ocean Soda and kiwi soda were awesome. The Pad See Ew was great too – you can always count on that. And the desserts? The sticky rice and banana fritter were amazing. The place was super cozy, too.

Wow – absolutely incredible!
Sometimes you can be caught with starry eyes when visiting somewhere on vacation as me and my partner were in Moss Vale, but Thai Som Boon was truly some of the best Thai food we’ve come across.

Highly recommend this place, especially for lunch.
The menu is excellent and full of fancy dishes and they have a large variety of lunch specials for -$15. For this price you can have a high quality dish, wells presented and with excellent service – a steal really!
We had king prawns, duck and a good old mango sticky rice – all three dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Even the rice was way above what you normally get for that price range.
At full price this restaurant would already be worth it, but the lunch specials price make it unavoidable if go happen to drive through Moss Vale.

Greedy restaurant. We ordered more than $95 of food (each dish at around $30) and beverages and they want to charge $1 for chilli powder??? You’ve got to be kidding me! The crab fried rice is bland, the fish serving is small for the price. Server is so unwelcoming and unattentive and it’s like she doesn’t want to be here. Not coming back. No wonder it’s empty at lunch time. Folks, please just go to Sattahip Thai instead.

Wow! Excellent restaurant. The food is amazing, and really authentic flavours. So surprising that a restaurant of this caliber exists here in Moss Vale.

While the food is amazing, we did find the service a bit lacking – after finishing our food, the plates weren’t taken away. Had to ask for it and ask for desert menu. Also ordered coffee for dinner but they never arrived.
Out fave dishes ordered were the curries and the pork belly with Chinese broccoli! Mmm mm

I am writing this review feeling very disappointed.
I visited this shop today at 1pm after seeing a advertisement infront the shop Special Lunch Order with 5 menu items priced clearly within the range of $14++ to $15++. When I asked the lady working there, she confirmed the special was available.
I ordered one item from that special menu: the Minced Chilli Basil.
The experience quickly turned negative. The staff member (the lady) was extremely rude and displayed very poor behavior. To make matters worse, she charged me $19.90, which is a significantly different and higher price than the advertised lunch special.
This combination of misleading pricing and terrible customer service is unacceptable. Very bad experience overall.
Not recommended at all.
