Was craving Thai food and decided to ride over to Thai Moon for dinner. The food here is authentically Thai cuisine and just delicious!

This is a SMALL business so be specific with your pick up time and don’t expect to be chatting up a storm with the staff here when picking up your food. They are working as fast as they can to get fresh food out and take orders. Please be mindful of this.
All orders on the menu are custom made to your spice level from mild to Thai level hot.
MOON EGG ROLLS
These egg rolls were so deliciously fresh and crunchy. Every bite was full of minced pork, shredded carrots, cabbage and vermicelli. Dipped with their homemade sweet chili sauce, just divine!
SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS
Rice paper rolled with vermicelli, fresh greens, carrots, cilantro, and shrimp. Dip into the housemate peanut sauce for the best bite. Every bite was so crunchy and fresh, just delicious. The rolls were rolled nice and tight, zero spillage. Very impressed with how stuffed these were. So yummy.
DRUNKEN NOODLES
We got a medium heat and Thai level hot. Oh my lord these were tasty! We chose chicken for our protein. I love drunken noodles and Thai Moon’s style is veggie and flavor heavy, just how I like it. Chewy, flat rice noodles, onions, tomatoes, chilis, garlic and fresh basil leaves; every bite was just an explosion of saucy flavors and textures. In hindsight, we should’ve just gotten medium because the Thai level one had us SWEATING and chugging our drinks. Delicious nonetheless, but note to self stick with medium if you like spicy, but want to enjoy your meal.
Portions are generous, so you’ll have enough for leftovers to enjoy the next day. Love the Thai food here, highly recommend!

Great little shop and take-out kitchen with authentic Thai food. Lots of gift items and grocery items from Thailand. Miss Moon makes some seriously legit food and she’s so nice.

The food is always fantastic, I’ve been coming to Ocracoke my whole life, and the owner is an absolute gem! It’s such a pleasure coming back to an establishment that had amazing food when I was a kid, and it still holds up to the highest quality even though it’s been over 15 years since I first went. Please take the one star reviews with a grain of salt. This is a ONE PERSON operation and the owner is obviously doing her best (and serving absolutely delicious food). The ordering protocol that you see in these reviews are because she is once again ONE PERSON and according to the sign up in her shop explaining the protocol, close to retirement. I’ve read a couple of reviews where people are ordering 25 minutes before close or having a huge group and not expecting a long wait… y’all clearly lack respect for a small business and the fact this is a one person establishment. Give respect, get respect.

SO DELICIOUS.
The fam and I got a variety of dishes for carry-out. Around 5:30 on a Wednesday the wait was still around 30 min, so definitely recommend calling in; then you can just roll up and the pick up is really quick. Big bummer is that it’s cash-only, but worth the inconvenience.
The shop smells so so good and carries a variety of Thai groceries (Maesri is legit) and clothing. People working there were super nice and were able to offer some suggestions on things to order. We got the green curry (mild still has quite a kick, but super flavorful), chicken ka pow (VERY authentic Thai spice level), pad Thai, egg rolls, chicken with veggies, and chicken with broccoli. Can’t speak for the others, but green curry and ka pow were super authentic. Really like how you can specify sizes- the small is definitely good enough for one to two portions (large is gigantic, see pics), which makes it an excellent deal.
I’ve had a lot of really good Thai so this isn’t the best out of all of them, but it def ranks up there. Really nice unexpected surprise.

Cannot rate the food because we didn’t get any. We called to order 25 minutes before closing to order 2 appetizers. The message on the machine said that she would call back to confirm. At 6:55 my wife walked over to see if the order was ready and the Owner/ Chef yelled at my wife saying we called too late to order. That it was closing time. She was very rude and unprofessional in her response to us.

Very good, freshly made food. Please note that you MUST call the day before to order your food and you must call her between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm. There is only one person preparing the food, taking orders, etc, so please be patient, it’s worth the effort!

Absolutely a great food experience!! Anyone that complains about this hard working lady, who makes authentic Thai food, should just stick to their normal fast food diet. Absolutely nothing to complain about. And if you want heat, Thai Hot is true heat! Absolutely delicious flavor with everything we had! Egg rolls are the best I’ve had! She had 8 tickets when we picked up our food, but did answer questions I had about how she makes her curry. Incredibly impressed with her and Thai Moon!

If you’re going to go to Ocracoke, you absolutely must make time to get food here! This has been an annual trip for us over the last 10 plus years and I only wish I could eat this Thai food weekly! WOW was thai moon so so good. it was my first time trying thai food (except for the frozen variety), and the flavors the chef managed to incorporate were layered, exciting, and fresh. i appreciate the numerous vegan options, and loved the tofu red curry. it was warm, yet bright, and didn’t weigh me down. inquiring about ingredients was easy, as moon obviously takes care in what she puts in each dish, and is knowledgable about such. i also appreciated that you could choose your spice level. my dad really loved his ka pow chicken, denoting it as the best thai he has ever had. the menu has something for everyone, and after hearing about how much my dad and I enjoyed it, think my mom was bummed out about not trying it. support moon and go here!!
