Thai Bloom! attracted attention in the Portland food scene early on by garnering a coveted position on the Portland Food Adventure. So it was only natural that we take our place among the area’s finest dining establishments by opening our second restaurant at 333 NW 23rd Avenue in the Northwest District of downtown Portland. As with our Beaverton location, the restaurant reaps high praise from patrons and enjoys a loyal following.

Casual Thai standby with spicy curries & other traditional dishes, plus a full bar & sidewalk seats.

Nothing about the experience really jumped out at me. The food was good, but not great. Same with the service and everything else. Calamari was chewy. The curry was good and the Pad Thai was mediocre. I’ve never been to a Thai Restaurant that didn’t have a traditional “Red Curry” on their menu. That being said, this place is far from traditional. If you’re looking for something that’s been twisted, altered/modernized, and “different”, I’d say maybe. But in my opinion they’re trying way too hard to be cute, that they’ve lost sight of what makes Thai (street) food special in the first place.
Understand that in Thailand, most of what they offer (on the menu at any Thai restaurant in the US) is street food. Street food that you can go anywhere to get, and it’s always hot, fresh, and under $2 because of the currency difference to the Baht. So to try and turn “street food” into fine dining is just ridiculous to me. Especially when the dining really isn’t that fine. You want fine dining, go to the City Grill, or a dozen other places. PCG has great calamari. Try it, and you’ll see what I mean.

Pleasant location on 23rd makes for great people-watching if you get a window seat. Visited on a rainy day and was comforted by the freshly made calamari, Pad Thai, and Thai fried rice. It was late afternoon which meant we got to order from the happy hour menu. The flavors could have used a little more zing, but the dishes were good overall. Since we were in between the lunch rush and dinner hour, it was pretty quiet and empty while we ate. The menu is huge with lots of options but it is a little pricey.

Thai Bloom is one of those places you go when you just want a good, no-stress meal. The menu has all the usual Thai favorites, and most dishes taste exactly how you expect them to. If you like things spicy, you’ll probably want to ask for extra heat, but the flavors are solid and comforting either way. Portions are big enough that you might end up with leftovers, which is always a win. The vibe inside is relaxed and easygoing. It’s clean and welcoming, nothing fancy, just a good spot to sit down with friends or grab a weeknight dinner. The staff is generally friendly and quick, though when it gets busy you might wait a little longer for refills or the check. Prices feel fair for the area, especially considering how much food you get. Some dishes hit better than others, so it’s worth trying a few things to see what fits your taste. Overall, Thai Bloom isn’t trying to reinvent anything, but it’s a dependable place to get a tasty meal without any fuss. It’s the kind of restaurant you find yourself returning to just because it’s easy, comfortable, and you know exactly what you’re getting.

Second attempt at this OG NW PDX spot. First time was a holiday and not partaking in their ALL day Sunday happy hour special. Yes, you read that right, all day HH prices on a ton of their food. This happy hour means smaller plates, smaller portions, which is a great way to try more menu items.

We were there during a heat wave, and I don’t believe they, like so many Portland old school buildings, have AC. But the space is open, welcoming, and bustling.

Service was exceptional. On point, attentive, fast. The food was just okay though. Again, portions were way small because of happy hour, which I didn’t know, with certain items being unsharable because of it, but still $6.50-12.50 a piece.

The seaweed salad, papaya salad were drenched in fish oil to the point that it was all you tasted. The Thai fried rice was soft, but needed a bit more oil, crisp. $6.50 spring rolls were just 2, and the soup was miniature. Drunken noodles were the best bet, overall. I think if I were in the neighborhood, and it was a Sunday, I’d give them another shot. But I wouldn’t go out of my way.

Great Thai restaurant with a cozy ambience and a wide variety of delicious dishes. Service was quick, and everything we tried tasted amazing. One of the few family-friendly spots open late on Fridays and Saturdays. Bonus points for the well-stocked drink menu!

Went in for a casual solo lunch, was attended to immediately. I ordered the lunch special of the day. The food came out promptly, in order of the salad starter, then my noodles with potstickers. I ordered it mild, was afraid it would lack flavor, but it did not let me down. The food was incredible 10/10. My server, Noor, was also incredibly friendly, attentive, experienced, anticipated my needs and was an all around pleasant person to interact with.
If you are looking at reviews to see if you should go here, don’t hesitate! I’ve also ordered take-out in the past, received the same level of quality and attention.
Love this place.

Enjoyed the Fall/Winter menu. We started with the vegetarian curry puffs followed by the pumpkin curry with tofu. Both dishes were very tasty. While not extremely spicy, the curry definitely builds up the heat…be aware. 😉

What an amazing dinner did we have at this restaurant. We had the Wonton soup as entree and shared the Crispy Duck and the Seasonal Beef Pumpkin Curry… bomb!! This restaurant brings depth of flavours and true substance to each bite. The portions are generous and the staff peaceful and light. We fell in love with Thai cuisine thanks to this restaurant.
We noted this restaurant and will keep it in our hearts for the future. Thank you!

Thai Bloom Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I was blown away by the delicious food and excellent service.

One of the standout dishes I tried was the Pad Thai, which was perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of heat. The Tom Yum Soup was also excellent, with a complex balance of spicy, sour, and savory flavors.

The restaurant’s ambiance is serene and inviting, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that creates a calming atmosphere perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.

Another dish that stood out was the Massaman Curry. The beef was tender and the curry was flavorful, perfect to complement with the fragrant jasmine rice.

Overall, I highly recommend Thai Bloom Restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious Thai dining experience with top-notch service and a tranquil atmosphere.

I had an incredible experience at Thai Bloom! From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone for a great meal. Every dish was absolutely delicious — fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and perfectly balanced spices that really brought each plate to life.

The appetizers came out hot and crisp, and the main courses were bursting with authentic Thai flavor. The portions were generous without feeling heavy, and everything tasted like it was made with care. Even the presentation was beautiful
colorful, fragrant, and so tempting you almost don’t want to dig in (but you’re glad you do!).

On top of the amazing food, the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, making the whole dining experience feel relaxed and welcoming.

If you’re craving bold, authentic Thai flavors with a touch of elegance, Thai Bloom is an absolute must-try. I can’t wait to come back and sample more of their menu!
