The roasted chicken was overwhelmingly balanced between sweet and tangy. The sauces were a unique blend of Thai without being overly spicy. Rice was made to perfection. Kale salad/ slaw was sweet and tart, by far my favorite side. Dessert was complemented with the softest and fresh fruit with Thai chili basil. My palate and heart are filled with joy 🙂

Really enjoyed the food here. I ordered based on recommendations from the guy who took my order and I wasn’t disappointed. I got the half roasted chicken and tenders meal that came with 2 sides and marinated pickles. The roasted chicken was moist and very flavorful. The tenders are a good size, crispy and well seasoned. I loved the ginger dipping sauce that came with them. The chili lime fries were crispy and had good flavor. The accompanying house made sriracha sauce was good too. The cake slaw was delicious! Crunchy veggies and pickled red onions in a creamy dressing. The pickles had a great sweet, acidic and ginger hit to them.

The food and service was amazing! I have a gluten allergy and was told to check this place out and so glad it did! The food is amazing. I got the half chicken and a side kale salad with some donuts for dessert! Everything was amazing from the friendly greeting when I walked in to the amazing flavors of the food. I highly recommend this place GF or not you should check this place out. Outstanding!

Glad I found Thai Bird. Hidden gem in alamo heights. Wonderful vibe. Food excellent. Tenders so tasty. Wings are delightful. Roast chicken the best. Pickles and peanuts are really good. Take out well packed and ready when requested. We will be back!

The food was delicious and the service was great! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming—perfect for a fun night out. We came for a private comedy show that was being hosted here and really enjoyed it.
It was also my first time seeing a wine machine at a restaurant, which was such a cool and unique touch! Definitely worth checking out if you’ve never tried one before—it seemed to be a hit with the regulars too.

Interesting setup. I liked the tenders and Thai flavor. When I always try a new place, I like to leave some helpful suggestions. I would have extra sauces available and have your standard fish sauce. The sample containers just don’t give you enough sauce to share. I would also suggest making more 1 person options. 2 to 3 piece bone in options might work better than the 10 piece option. Great concept! Unique.

Celiac safe! Everything is naturally gluten free, and only two items are made with dairy. We had a great chat with the Chef/owner and enjoyed learning part of his story, especially living in Thailand. Being able to experience delicious food is a rare blessing for me, and the atmosphere is perfect. Thank you for a great meal with my family. We’ll see you soon!

Absolutely exceptional experience at Thai Bird in Alamo Heights! Every detail from the food to the hospitality was thoughtful and intentional.
We started with the chili crisp hummus with rice crackers and it set the tone immediately. Bright, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with the pickled onions and herbs. The Thai rotisserie chicken fries, red curry corn, chili lime fries, and ginger pickles were all standouts. You can tell this menu is designed with creativity and precision.
The Lambrusco pairing was excellent and complemented everything on the table. It is refreshing to see a place that takes both food and wine seriously while still keeping the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.
I also appreciate that the menu is gluten free without sacrificing flavor or variety. That alone makes this a go to spot for so many people.
We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Dave Gilbert, and his hospitality was top tier. You can feel the care and pride behind the concept.
The wine club and regular tasting events are a brilliant addition and really make this feel like a community driven experience, not just a restaurant.
This area along Broadway in Alamo Heights is becoming a destination for elevated, artisan dining and Thai Bird is leading the way.
Highly recommend and we will absolutely be back.

The food was spot on for a unique and wonderful experience. And if wine and craft beer are your thing there’s plenty of that! I had the half chicken with the pickles, fruit, salad, and chili lime fries. All of these were not your usual fair at a chicken joint and the chef knocked it out of the park. The flavors are so harmonious between the palate cleansing pickles that are not overbearing that complemented the fruit salad perfectly.
