My husband rated his a 3 and mine was a 4, but since I could not rate our food a 3 1/2, I gave it a 4. I bumped it up with their customer service being EXCELLENT! We were traveling and called in an order with them being very busy at the time. The wonderful person who answered the phone took the time to answer all my questions and was polite. They were VERY busy, but the online menu was blurry and so we needed some help, she provided it. I had the non-traditional chicken salad sandwich on their homemade nut bread and I would give it a 4. It was not the best I ever had, but it was very … enjoyable and filling. My husband had the Rueben with sweet potato fries and he gave it a 3. He said it tasted average, but the corned beef was over cooked and dry. He was not crazy about the sweet potato fries, but he too thought the person who helped us, both on the phone and inside, was incredible.

I would say if we are ever out that way we would try them again. It is nice to have GREAT customer service and nice to have some of the choices we had off of their menu.

This was a nice stop for the family on a trip for the holidays. The decor was nice and our waitress Juliah was very friendly and attentive.

The food was brought out quickly as we all enjoyed the food we got, which ranged from kids Alfredo pasta, to buffalo wings, chicken fried steak, and shrimp and grits.

We really enjoyed eating here on our drive home. It was a unique and fun place to stop and our waitress was very friendly. I ordered the BBQ sandwich, my daughter ordered the Mediterranean wrap which was large with plenty of chicken. Our friends ordered the burger on a jalapeño cheddar bun and a bacon sandwich with apricot mayo. We all got the seasoned fries which were very good and everyone enjoyed their meals. We will definitely go back if ever in the area again.

Chicken salad sandwich is good. The grilled chicken pita was OK. Service is lacking however. Very unfriendly. We did not feel welcome here. Workers do not practice safe distancing for their patrons. Everyone is jammed in together. Workers do not wear masks or gloves. I saw waitress wiping down table without any kind of disinfectant. And then she just put it on top of the bar. Then she grabbed it again and wiped the next table! I was quite shocked. We will never be returning here with that kind of carelessness! That is a sure way to create a pandemic right there in your own home town of Carthage. Thank God we were just passing through. Complete and utterly shocking!!!

We were passing through and based on reviews, I thought we’d give it a try. Thumbs up from all of us! Mom had the catfish, my husband had the chicken fried steak and I had a burger with bacon. All fantastic! The town square itself is super cute too. I wish I had time to visit some of the shops.

A hidden treasure! I think we went around the “circle” 10 times, and we saw this little quaint Café and had to stop. I’m in a manual wheelchair ‍ so my friend had to park and go make sure it was wheelchair accessible. After deciding how we’d get up on the sidewalk (there was a ramp, but we had to walk 1/2 a block), we walked to the restaurant. We could smell the deliciousness the closer we got.

It was lunchtime that was obvious because almost every seat was taken! It was literally bursting at the seams in there. It was hopping with the chatter from the locals and the clink of silverware meeting plates as people scrapped up every bite. We found one small table for 2 right at the door… literally right by the door jam.

We munched on the free chips and salsa while perusing the menu. We are bothing eating very wisely as we are on a weight loss journey. I’ve lost 100 lbs in 11 months, and most restaurants don’t have much that I can eat. I noticed their healthy choices of soups and salads, and I got excited. My friend got a soup and I got a cobb salad. I did have some ingredients changed but our server was so kind and did a wonderful job.

The food was superb. I felt like I was at a 5 ⭐️ restaurant … that’s why I gave them 5 ⭐️’s. My friend slurped up her soup and my fork was making the clink, clink, clinking as it hit my plate, just as the local were. We ate far too fast but the food was absolutely divine, not to mention the good service. People finished and left just in time for someone else to come in. There was someone waiting to be seated the entire time we were there. It’s an experience you must have. We didn’t just find a new favorite place to eat when we go to Carthage…eating at The Texas Tea Room was an entire experience that I think everyone must have! Drop by and eat while enjoying the small town love!

We were traveling through and actually looking for another restaurant. Ended up here by mistake. Was hopeful that it was a sign and we might have found a hidden gem. Service was very poor. The young waitress was distracted by what appeared to be mom and sibings. Had to call her over so we could order. I asked about the chicken fried steak and if it was made in house. She told me it was a favorite and yes it was hand breaded. I ordered it it came with mashed potatoes and green beans. We also ordered a plain cheese burger , just meat, cheese and bun with sweet potato fries. The burger was a precooked frozen patty heated in a microwave and possible put on the flat top. The fries were the hi lite. The mashed potatoes were instant, canned green beans and the absolute worst chicken fried steak ever the gravy I had on the side. If it was supposed to be white gravy, it was a fail. I believe it was a powdered mix with water. I was very disappointed since it says “Fine Dining” on the door. I was worried about wearing shorts in. I did ask at another establishment about how long it has been around. They told me the owner bought it and was a really nice man. There could be some high potential for it but it needs alot of work.
