Atmosphere was great, went during lunch so it was super calm. BBQ was good, like 7 out of ten. Brisket could use more smoke, jalapeño sausage was great and pulled pork had good flavor. Ribs were a little dry but good flavor. Potato salad was good and Mac and cheese was really good. Would recommend, and it looks like it could be a fun evening spot with live music.

I’m a weekly patron of the Texas Star Inn, and it’s truly a special place for my family. We gather there every week for karaoke, and it’s become a cherished tradition. The brisket and ribs are absolutely addictive—consistently delicious and worth coming back for again and again.
What really sets the Texas Star Inn apart is the warm, family-oriented atmosphere. The staff and the karaoke DJ feel like part of the extended family, and their consistent presence (as well as the regular patrons) makes every visit feel welcoming and familiar.
With plenty of space and a great layout, it’s also an excellent venue for events. Whether you’re coming for the food, the fun, or the community, the Texas Star Inn delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend it.

Love the bbq here. They have different live bands or singers on certain days. Karaoke on certain days. Give good portions of food.Good chicken fried steak. My son had the rib eye steak and it was so good.

For the money, it wasn’t very good. Tons of extra breading and the meat was bland and tough. For $16.99, was very disappointed. The mashed potatoes were great, but the green beans were over cooked and really sweet. Gravy was just OK, Walmart gravy at the deli is better than this was.

First visit under the new ownership—and definitely won’t be the last.
Stopped in twice: once for takeout, once for a sit-down dinner at the bar. Both meals hit the spot.
First time, I went with the brisket sandwich—tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. On my second visit, I couldn’t resist the chicken fried steak (and yes, I totally forgot to snap a pic—rookie move, I know).
Great music, attentive service, and prices that don’t break the bank. Already looking forward to my next visit.
Word to the wise, the kitchen closes at 9pm sharp, not 9:03, 9:02, 9:01 – 9pm and they don’t budge not even for cold food to go.

Heard great things about the catfish here in local restaurant groups so had to check it out. (Good catfish is hard to find in San Antonio) Solid recommendation for sure! Not the best I’ve had but top 5 for sure.. The fish has what I consider, proper breading. It’s cooked perfectly! The sides are fresh and delicious, price is reasonable, and the service was on point. Jackie was also hella cool to chat with while my food was cooking. Keep her! 10/10 overall experience as far as food, service, and price… She even told me to call her at the restaurant and let her know if I enjoyed the meal. Give her a raise ! This place is very very clean. The employees were pleasant. This was our first visit here. Everyone’s taste is different. I thought the fried fish and hushpuppies were amazing. With mac and cheese, you never know so many places do it differently. This was more of a creamy white cheese. It was good, not great. The green beans were great with meat and tomatoes in them. The atmosphere was amazing. The restrooms were cute, well-stocked, and very clean. When we entered all the tables and floors were clean. The pinto beans were wonderful. We will visit again. We forgot our left overs on the table. The waiter ran out with a big smile.

I’ve been a few times. The food is delicious. The turkey is phenomenal. The green beans could use a little more seasoning, but the pinto beans are spot on. The side salad, almond with the meats on the 2 meat plates are a good sized portion. The sweet tea isn’t too sweet, it’s just right. I wish they had jalapeños on the condiment bar but the pickles and onions are adequate.

Nice nice place, Danielle was very pleasant and just right on time checking on me. Food was good, I did the 3 meat plate. Had brisket, sliced, jalapeño sausage, pulled pork with green beans and coleslaw. The brisket was mostly tender, had a few pieces along the edge that were pretty dry. The sausage was good but for jalapeño sausage lacked in the heat department. The pulled pork was way to salty for my tastes and I like a lot of salt so remember that if you are thinking of the pulled pork. The green beans were home style with tomatoes in them and the coleslaw slaw was nice and coarse which I prefer over shredded. Unfortunately it lacked much flavor so it didn’t stand out any more than that. Would I return? Heck yeah I will, maybe chicken fried steak and all the fixins next time.

This place used to be known as Grady’s BBQ. I do not know if they just changed names or actually changed staff and cooks too. But it doesn’t really matter. I ordered the chopped barbecue sandwich combo with french fries. The tasty french fries are battered and the chopped sandwich was very delicious. They have pickles and onions free of charge along with the usual condiments. This place was impeccably clean and well-decorated with western singers pictures on the wall etc. I’ve also had the fried catfish here and it is great. So if you’re in the area and in the mood for some good barbecue or Southern cooking, I would definitely give this place a shot.
