My first trip to Texas Roadhouse in Kyle, Texas was definitely memorable… just not in the way I hoped.
Even with reservations, the wait was long and the place was packed wall-to-wall. It quickly became obvious that in Kyle, when people want a sit-down dinner instead of fast food, they all head to Texas Roadhouse.
While waiting, I noticed tables being escorted in with hot rolls and cinnamon butter already in hand like a welcome snack parade. When we were finally seated… nothing. No bread, no butter, just us and an empty table. Eventually the manager came by and after I mentioned it, she quickly brought some over.
Now I’ll give credit where it’s due: the rolls were piping hot and delicious. But the cinnamon butter? Let’s just say it tasted like cinnamon dust from an ancient spice rack. I would have happily taken plain butter.
I ordered the 12-oz prime rib with a salad and stuffed baked potato. I love a good medium-well prime rib and was really looking forward to it.
The salad came out almost instantly, which made sense once I took a bite — it was so cold it felt like it had been chilling next to the ice cream. The blue cheese dressing had about as much blue cheese in it as a wish and a prayer.
Then the steak arrived. One end had about four ounces of pure fat, which I trimmed off. When I cut into the meat… it was very well done. After a couple bites I lost interest.
The server noticed and kindly offered to fix it. A few minutes later he returned with the same prime rib explaining something I’ve never heard at any steakhouse: apparently they don’t cook prime rib to order there — it’s all roasted to one doneness. If I had known that beforehand, I never would have ordered it.
So I switched to a ribeye. By the time it came out, everyone else at the table had finished eating and I had mostly lost my appetite. The ribeye looked like it had survived a small house fire, and sure enough… very well done again.
So my $45 dinner ended up being a glass of wine, one hot roll, a couple bites of freezing salad, and two overcooked steaks that followed me home in a takeout box, and most likely to the dump!
To be fair, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lively — music, dancing, and a fun crowd. But if you’re coming here expecting a great steak dinner, you might want to lower those expectations… or just order the rolls and call it a night.

Sadly, it was not the best experience we’ve had at a Texas Roadhouse. Our first request for a booster seat was forgotten, then our waitress, while very kind, was a little less attentive than others we’ve had. Our biggest issue was some of the food. We had 3 plates with a steak dish, all of them order medium or medium-well, and they all came out well done. Dry and chewy. Then my Mac and cheese had no flavor, cheese was watered down and it was just inedible. Lasty, my wife’s rice was slightly over cooked. Overall, we did enjoy our time and most of our food, but it just didn’t meet our expectations that previous visits have set for us.

We went here on a Wednesday around 4:30. We didn’t have to wait but a minute or 2. It was still busy but not crazy packed. Our server was Ryan she was a great server. She was very friendly, patient, and kind. She was very attentive as far as if we needed any refills or any extra items we may have forgotten to ask for. The manager on duty was polite and kind. She went up to our table within 10 minutes of being seated and introduced herself.
The food was great. My husband and I both got a 6 Oz and came out exactly the way we asked. I got a cesar salad, which was great. I had just enough dressing, cheese, and croutons. I also got loaded mashed potatoes that never disappoint. My son got a little critter meal. He ordered steak bites his first time, and he really liked them. Food, service, and atmosphere were all great. We will definitely come back.

I can’t say enough good things about this location in Kyle! This is the best Texas Roadhouse we have ever been to! The food is delicious, and always consistent! I always get my favorite.Portobello Mushroom Chicken! It has so much flavor and is so tender! My husband always gets a ribeye that he picks from the case, and he says it is the best steak in Texas! We have been living in Tx for 2 years and he considers himself an expert on steaks!
Olivia obviously loves what she does and is very good at it! Her employees are always so friendly, well mannered, and hard working! Olivia’s has successfully made Texas Roadhouse the best restaurant in Kyle!

We had an extremely large group (52 people)… the wait staff were excellent! Multiple staff were assigned, orders were taken quickly and the guests were happy. It did take a while for the food. But, once received, the quality was great, hot and accurate! We enjoyed the time and I was impressed!

She made sure we were taken care of promptly and did it with a genuine smile. Who ever is running this branch needs to make sure she gets a raise! We will definitely be back, because of her!

Our server Ava was great. There wasn’t much that we needed, but she was there to make sure. She was quick and refreshingly polite. The hostess were friendly as well and a young lady named Camy also went out of her way to say goodbye as we left. I ordered the 6oz sirloin and two side of broccoli. My steak was tender and perfectly cooked.

Had a couple drinks with a friend, sat at the bar. Staff was excellent in checking often if we needed anything. Several times all the staff would dancing to certain songs thus cultivating a welcoming and fun atmosphere.

Me and my friend visited today for some good food as we had this planned all week. We had amazing service shoutout to Nick our server! He was so awesome and he so kindly explained the steaks to us because we were confused. He made sure we were good at all times and supported me and my friend in our big back activities. Service was amazing , The food was 10/10 and the atmosphere was good overall. We loved our visit and will be coming back more and more.
