Review of Texas Roadhouse (Birthday Dinner, September 2025)

I went to Texas Roadhouse last night with my boyfriend for my 34th birthday. I’d been craving a steak and figured it would be a fun treat, even though we knew it was going to be packed since it was LSU game night.

The Good:
• We waited a normal amount of time for a booth, and our table was clean.
• Rolls came out quickly, which was nice since it took about five minutes for our drink order.
• Beer was cold and came quickly.
• The shrimp appetizer was good, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken tenders and fries.
• The little trivia tablets on the table were a fun distraction while waiting.

The Not-So-Great:
• The water tasted terrible — metallic and overly chlorinated, almost like theme park water. I couldn’t drink it.
• Our server never introduced himself, and service throughout the night was inconsistent. At one point, I had a side salad delivered without any silverware or napkins. After asking three different staff members with no luck, I eventually had to go grab my own from the server station.
• The overall noise level was extreme — I expected it to be lively on game night, but it was so loud I had to yell just for my boyfriend to hear me.
• At the table next to us, a plate was dropped and a shard hit my leg. I wasn’t hurt badly (just a small cut I bandaged myself), but no one seemed to notice or check in.
• The ribeye I ordered was disappointing — chewy, with the fat not rendered properly. The loaded potato was on the dry side and could’ve used more toppings, but since our server was hard to track down, I just went with it.

Overall:
We didn’t complain during the meal because it didn’t seem worth making a scene, but the experience was disappointing — especially since going out to eat is a rare treat for us. Some parts of the meal were enjoyable, but the combination of poor service, overly loud atmosphere, and a lackluster steak made it a birthday dinner I wouldn’t repeat here anytime soon.

We used to eat here at least once a week, but for the last year or so, this restaurant has gone steadily downhill. We tried going one last time yesterday. It took forever to get our food, even though the table across from us came in about 15 minutes after us, got their food, ate and left before we got ours. We had to ask for cinnamon butter 4 times because the waiter brought silverware, then rolls instead of butter. The chili was cold, so we asked for it to be reheated. They didn’t come back to get it. We returned it and asked for it to be taken off the bill. It wasn’t removed. The Bleu Cheese salad dressing was awful, nothing like it used to be. This was our last time going back.

Second time here. 1st time steaks were overcooked – manager was apologetic, rushed through another order and I think gave us a dessert for inconvenience.
Definitely worth another visit. This time, almost 10 minutes after ordering, we reminded waiter that our steaks came with a salad. Immediately brought out salad saying ‘kitchen is really busy, soon as I went back they were Just putting up your salad” ??? About 10/15 mins later we asked about food. He immediately came back with steak saying “you guys must be psychic, they Just put this up.” Ordered Medium Rare, recd Extremely Well Done. Manager came over, we sliced steak in the middle, said, ‘we’ve been sitting here over 40 minutes, empty water, tea and wine glass and now as u can see very well done when ordered mid rare’ She took both our plates and simply said “ugh, Ill take this off your check, do you want something else?” I said ‘the steak was very good last time, just a bad night for us, I guess’ trying to keep the mood light. She repeated she’d take this off the ck and walked away. No sorry, please come back another time and allow us to do this right – just walked away.
Disappointing because this place is so close and Could Be our Go To, but oh well any suggestions for steakhouse in Madisonville/Mandeville area – much appreciated. Enjoy Keith Youngs but pricey for a bi-weekly ‘go to’.

This will have to be a mixed review. To start off, we had a wonderful dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We ordered the blooming onion as our appetizer. Next we each had a salad. I got the blue cheese dressing and my husband got the ranch. The salad greens were very fresh and both dressings were excellent. Our main course consisted of rib eye steaks and with the baked potato. The steaks were cooked exactly as we requested. The potato was soft and we had ordered extra butter which was provided. Both the steaks and the potatoes were were very good. Our server was fantastic. She brought us our drinks (wine) and checked on us frequently. Now for the not so good…during dinner my wrist started itching and burning. I had two large welps which had a holes in the center. I’m assuming I was bitten by a spider. Thankfully I am not allergic but the bites turned nasty. It has taken almost two weeks to heal. My suggestion to Texas Roadhouse managers is to fumigate the restaurant to eliminate anyone else from getting bitten.

Ordered 16oz ribeye well done. Steak came out bleeding heavily. Manger brought it out again. Most of the steak was not able to eat. Completely burnt. Worst food. The manger knew it was burnt and still put it down for me to eat.

Staff, food and service are good. A bit loud and hard to hear clearly for me with my hearing aid.

We went around 6:00. They said 10-15 minute wait. We sat down 45 minutes later. It was packed, on a Monday night. Ordered the beef tips, mashed potatoes and corn, it was delicious. Jackson was our server and he was outstanding. We ordered drinks and they were out of glasses so the drinks came in styrofoam. That’s how busy they were. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Reliable place for a good meal.

First time for everything I guess….I ALWAYS say I’ve never had a bad meal or bad experience at any of the dozens of Texas Roadhouse locations I have frequented…. Well, today, just about sucked…. A guy bartender should have been a first clue…. He was fine at getting me a couple beers but that’s where the positivity ends….. I got my appetizer blossom but no regular ranch I asked for.. he corrected that, and brought me regular ranch, I laughed it off,,ok…. Took my entree order, no problem…. Beyond his control, my bone in rib-eye straight up sucked…. It was cut all kinds of crooked like a wedge, and definitely NOT medium rare.. it was RAW…. Didn’t get my extra seasoning I asked for but a server brought me some…. Didn’t get my butter I asked for and the server wasn’t interested…. Asked if I needed anything else.. I said I didn’t get my extra seasoning, she very abruptly cut me off and said it’s on my steak.. I said well I asked for it on the side… and butter, but she was already walking away when I said and butter… she brought me my extra seasoning… I didn’t get my butter, and I just didn’t want to ask again…. . I guess she was just too busy for me…(there were only 4, maybe 6 people at the bar).

Bartender guy “Bear” came by later and did the obligatory how was everything and asked if I need a box…, he brought me the smallest box, I attempted to fit what was left of my bone in rib-eye and double order of green beans…. He said I’ll get you a bigger box.. I said “don’t worry about it” as I was cutting the meat off the bone.., I said out loud to him “It’s ok this is just for my dog, I don’t know who y’all have cooking steaks today but they ruined this one”… he looked at me, said nothing, not a thing….. I finished my beer, and had to ask for my ticket several minutes later.. it was 4:08, no doubt shift change and that’s fine, I’m not impatient….
My ticket was $63 and change…. My apologies for tipping poorly($5 and change) but well, I honestly don’t see where “Bear” did anything to earn more…..(he served me 3 beers, not much else happened from his hands). Steak sucked, bartender sucked…. I guess it was just bad timing, not sure but thing’s definitely just were not hitting on all cylinders..

I got there around 2:45, left around 4:10…

I’ll definitely revisit as I always do but today was definitely worth a negative review…. But, honestly, I’ll probably just go to the Slidell location as it’s always spot on.. or even Denham Springs…

Roughly 10 years of Texas Roadhouse visits in 4 or 5 different states, I guess I was due for a bad visit…I hope they iron out those kinks…

I did happen to take notice of the steaks in the glass case on my way out and all the other bone in rib-eyes were cut very similarly with the crooked wedge looking cut, thick by the bone, thin on the outside..(maybe their cutters need retraining or need to sharpen their knives, not sure)

I’m in a tough spot on money between jobs right now and decided to splurge today…. Because Texas Roadhouse NEVER FAILS ME!!…Definitely wasted my $70-ish dollars today!! I should’ve just went and bought a steak and cooked it myself!!

Service was very slow. Our server kept forgetting to bring us BbQ sauce and refill our drinks. My ribs were dry and burned. My husbands food was good

We just moved to the area, and decided to give this restaurant a try. My family was highly impressed! The steaks are amazing! Super tender, flavorful and juicy. We were lucky enough to have been assisted by Dasha; the sweetest server! She has provided such an enjoyable dining experience, that we can’t wait to go back. The only negative is that wait time has been a bit long; usually about 25 minutes to get seated. Overall, amazing food, ambiance and service.
