Before the meal, we tried their bread. Both the front desk and our waiter hyped it up as freshly made, so we were expecting something great — but honestly, it was disappointing. The bread didn’t taste good at all, and even their special butter wasn’t appealing.
The house salad, however, was nicely presented and the portion size was generous. That was actually one of the better parts of the meal.
Unfortunately, my son didn’t enjoy his food. He barely touched the fries or the chicken tenders — just a small bite. We ended up planning to stop by Cane’s afterward so he could actually eat something.
My Dallas Filet started off very salty. (I ended up getting a headache even before leaving their front door.) After a few bites, my taste buds just adjusted to it. The bigger issue was the lack of any “wow factor.” For a hand-cut steak from a steakhouse inspired by Texas — a state known for great beef — I expected much better. The flavor was below average, and the only thing that made it tolerable was the Texas Steak Sauce. It’s honestly the first time I’ve ever felt forced to finish a steak.
The mashed potatoes were overly mushy, not chunky like described when asked about them.
The drinks were underwhelming too — the Coke tasted weak and the Honest Kids Organic Apple Juice was flat.
On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and provided excellent service throughout most of the visit. The only awkward moment was when we first walked in and two employees were chatting while we stood there waiting to be acknowledged.
Overall: great customer service, especially by Maya, but poor food quality. Sadly, we won’t be returning to this location, even if the food was free.
The host who greets people in and out or greets people to pick up their to our order needs to be more respectful and be more pleasant. That’s all otherwise the food is great. The prices are great.
Always love this steak house.
