The only problem we had was the condition of the establishment. Yes we were there at the end of the night and clean up had begun around 9pm, but the floors looked like they weren’t swept allllllll day. We watched the servers act like they were sweeping but never put it in the dust pan and swept up. Different ones fake touch the broom but from the time we entered to the time we left, no one cleaned up the pile. Tables were cleaned, chairs wiped down adding more mess to the center of the room, but no one taking initiative to actually sweep up and get rid of the mess.
Our waitress was a charming, funny, and incredibly bubbly. We ordered (2) 16oz prime rib dinners, which came with 2 sides, and of course the unlimited rolls and the house sweet butter. My friend had a surf & turf combo and 2 sides. We ordered fried pickles and a onion blossom. The kid downing some blue liquid sugar concoction, I had a Corona, my friend opted for a cocktail.
Our orders were in and away she went with a joke and a smile. Within less than 10 minutes we had all our beverages and appetizers, along with a basket or rolls. Hey TR management, you know the butter is awesome, how about 2 little containers as just 1 isn’t cutting it? Thanks in advance.
So waiting on our dinners, the kid found out why I kept telling him not to fill up on rolls as he finished the 2nd basket. The appetizers were your standard fare, greasy and rather bland, but I rarely expect to be blown away by chain restaurant appetizers. The booths could use a bit more room on the table as we were having to move stuff off the table so they could bring our dinners. Not just our appetizer dishes, but the electronic displays, the ridiculously oversized drink menus, and the giant water glasses that were not asked for but delivered anyway.
So, dinner arrived, and there was the moment we’d all been anticipating. The smell, the beautiful sight of perfectly done, medium rare prime rib, my friend with the ribeye and shrimp. He prefers his medium, but hey, to each their own. The prime rib was excellent, though a bit overwhelming to the boy who had been stuffed with rolls already. The sides again were lackluster, the fries were limp and not very hot, the mac & cheese was bland and seemed to be missing the cheese part. Green beans were uninspiring, and the mashed potatoes were covered in far too much butter making them more of a soup dish. My friend had the baked and sweet potatoes, said he was quite happy with both. I went mostly silent as I immersed myself into the experience of completely enjoying the prime rib, which was simply wonderful which each bite. While the kid enjoyed it, he couldn’t finish it and skipped dessert for the first time I can remember.
So the overall experience was a great night out with friends, and a meal well worth the $32.99 tag for 16oz of pure joy. The noise level in the restaurant was a bit more than any of us cared for, nearly having to yell to be heard across the table. They could use to turn down the music slightly. Otherwise it was a fun night, a well prepared meal, and a great server to add to the mix and round it out nicely. I have never had a bad experience at any Texas Roadhouse, so no real surprise this one was another enjoyable evening. Thank you for always being reliable.
