I decided to take my girlfriend here last night. When we walked in the door, you could smell all of the smoke from the bar which is right by the entrance. The hostess was not at the stand, which was odd, because it was 7PM. We waited about 60 seconds ( I know this is not a very long wait, but I feel there should have been someone there as soon as we walked in), and were greeted by a woman who asked how many – 2. Booth or table – Booth. She then started talking with the bartender across the bar, instead of showing us to our table immediately. After a few moments of banter, she walked us to our table. The waitress appeared swiftly after we were seated and took our drink order. They brought out a bread roll and butter, but there was no silverware. When the waitress returned with our drinks, she asked if we were ready to order, and when I said we needed a moment she walked away before I could ask for silverware…also there was no sweeteners on the table for my girlfriend’s tea. When the waitress returned, we asked for silverware, and ordered an appetizer – onion strings. When the onion strings came out, I was surprised. There is no easy way to eat these things… they were literally a stringy mess of fried onion… We ordered – a New York Strip Steak Medium Well, and a mushroom burger, salad, cup of soup, and a baked potato.

The soup was a southwest chicken tortilla soup. It was super salty, but otherwise tasty. The salad had fresh baby tomatos. The bread from earlier was hard to cut with the knives we had been provided… the outer crust was hard, but the bread inside was soft.

When our food arrived, I was disappointed. The New York Strip was very well done – no pink whatsoever, and very dry. It was also extremely fatty. I don’t eat a lot of steak, and understand that a strip steak should have a strip of fat along the side, but there was fat running through the entire steak, and with the way it was over cooked, it make the whole thing a chewy unflavored mess. The hamburger was juicy, but ultimately lacked flavor. It was served with a small helping of steak fries which were pretty good, but this was certainly not a burger worth $10. The baked potato was good.

The server was slow to ask if we needed refills, and inattentive to our concerns about the food. When we paid and she saw that the steak was mostly uneaten, she didn’t ask if there was anything wrong with it.

I will never go to this restaurant again. And I am very disappointed with the quality of food and service.

The house special is the Smoked Sirloin and it certainly is very good. Try the steak and cheese dip, its a nice change to ordinary chip dips.
