I got the New York Strip steak with a Sweet Potato and Broccoli. I added cheese on the broccoli. The cheese was a mistake. I don’t know what it was… but, it wasn’t very good. The sweet potato was good. I’d order that, again. My New York Strip steak was very good and was cooked to a perfect Medium, which is what I ordered. However, another individual in our party ordered the Beef Tips. When his order came, he complained that there were very few tips. About only 5 would be my guess. In a separate bowl were the mushrooms. There were 2 or 3 times as much mushrooms than beef tips. The bowl was nearly over flowing with mushrooms. It look like the mushrooms were the main course of the beef tips meal. The third member of our party didn’t have complaints or praises, either way, about the food.

Our waiter was no where near what I’ve grown to expect in waiters and waitresses. He refilled the other two people’s coffee, but never once asked if I wanted a refill on my lemonade. He was always rushed, abrupt and curt in his service. The service could be a lot better.

The atmosphere and esthetics of the place were Western and Texas like. I really enjoyed the looks of the place.

This place was sadly a let down, seemed like it had potential for some great food but was very basic overall. The jalapeño poppers were ok, but the burger was horribly overcooked. The fries tasted somewhat old or maybe it was the oil. The service was ok, but kinda off. Place has a lot of potential, just weirdly off.

First time customer and overall it was a great experience!

Our server Desi was fantastic, very attentive and floating around with a pleasant attitude and a smile on her face. This means more than words can write.

BBQ is my comfort food, so I tried the brisket with a sweet potato and side salad. It was very tender and the sauce was tasty. I wouldn’t say it’s as good as actual Texas brisket, but pretty alright for a Western MD attempt. 😉 The sweet potato was perfect, served with brown sugar and butter on the side. The ranch for my salad was up there with some of the best I’ve ever had.

We also had a cheeseburger and chicken tenders with fries. No complaints. The fries had a hint of seafood taste–maybe just old or shared oil. The taste was not off-putting.

The atmosphere was 10/10 cozy vibes. I loved the decor and the music playing overhead was nothing but 90s country. There is counter-top seating at the bar and a nice little dining area with tables and booths.

The bathroom, while older in appearance, smelled and felt CLEAN. Public restrooms are a huge pet peeve, so I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into the job.

I want to start by saying this is an update to my previous review. The food was good as always—no complaints there—and the service was fast and friendly. But there are a couple of issues that are making me think twice about coming back, and that’s why I felt it was important to post an update.

A few months ago, we were meeting family for dinner and they refused to seat us until our entire party was present. I get that policy in general, but in this case, the rest of our group was literally in the parking lot and walking in. While we were waiting, other guests who arrived after us were seated before us—even after all of our group had arrived. I let that slide at the time.

But on my most recent visit, I noticed a “surcharge” on my bill. When I asked about it, I was told it was for using a credit card and was directed to a small-print sign at the register. That’s not okay. There was no mention of this at the hostess station or on the menu. By the time you’re at the register, you’ve already eaten—it’s too late to make an informed choice. And the surcharge was about 3%, which is more than the average credit card fee (typically around 1.9% for card-present transactions).

With Texas Roadhouse opening nearby, we’ll likely start going there instead unless Texas Grillhouse steps up and puts customer service front and center again.

Texas Grillhouse—if you want to keep loyal customers, you need to be transparent and improve the experience before the meal, not just during it.

As a Texan, Please do not attach our state name to your place of business! Salad was good size, grilled chicken good, my favorite ranch. That’s the end of the goodness. Boxed Mac n cheese that wasn’t cheesey, crab soup that was served right from the fridge-I’m not even exaggerating not even a little warm . We got a to go order but did not ask for it to be cold. Unless that’s how they eat it in MD, I have no idea why they would think that’s ok. On top of that there was no flavor except a cornstarch tasting base with barely any crab and it was more like bits. Didn’t finish it after 2 bites. Offer priced for the quality. We got 2kids meals, a grilled chicken salad, cup of soup. They charge for using a credit card too. I would not have tipped if I’d know it would be so bad. 42.00 wasted.

This is my first time here as I have driven past this restaurant a few times. From the exterior to the interior my first notion was that it was the sibling to Texas Roadhouse. The atmosphere and the food was fantastic. As soon as you walk through the door chicken is on rotation on the open flame. For the appetizer I ordered the jalapeño wrapped cream cheese. They were delicious. The main course I had the moonshine burger, and my family had the brisket meal. I would definitely come back.

Great local spot with friendly service and solid food. The bacon jalapeño bombs are my favorite—crispy, flavorful, and always delicious. Definitely worth stopping in when you’re in LaVale.

Hadn’t been here in quite awhile because we now live in Tennessee! Here on Vaca for my husband’s birthday & desided to stop – This use to be one of our favorite restaurants! Not so much now – My food was good & cooked to what I ordered & our Grandson’s food was right as well, but my husband ordered the Beef Tips Medium Well & he could not chew them at all – said it was like chewing leather & his Baked Potato was not cooked at all – Extremely Hard! Very Disappointed that we stopped for his Birthday & he couldn’t even eat – He’s not one that will send it back because of Horror Stories about what some people do to stuff if it’s sent back! Probably Won’t Be Eating Here Again!

We stopped got sweet tea and that was very good. Staff is friendly. I got the cheese steak and mashed potato they were not good. They put so much cheese on it it only tasted like that hardly any meat. My wife got beef tips and pasta noodles were so saturated in water they were huge and soggy. And drenched in brown gravy, no flavor. It was hard to eat, was trying not to make a fuss they took a couple bucks off the table but 40 bucks of food that my dogs will eat was not a good stop.

Really nicely decorated place and an open flame rotisserie for their chicken behind the bar. Seems like a place the locals like to go, which is always a great sign. Had the half rack ribs and brisket with broccoli and fries.

The staff is really friendly and the prices are fair. Definitely would eat here again if the Atlantic Ocean wasn’t between us Thank you for the great food.
