We ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and it was the kind of plate that keeps us coming back. It comes with crispy corn tortillas, pulled pork, cheddar cheese, two eggs, and is topped with salsa, feta cheese, and cilantro, plus black beans and hash browns on the side. The flavors work really well together, and the mix of textures makes it feel like a full, satisfying meal instead of a basic breakfast.
If you are looking for a diner that can handle classic comfort food and Tex-Mex style breakfast in one place, Texas Cafe Diner is worth a stop. We will be back for sure.
First of all, the food took an excruciating 40 minutes to arrive. When it finally limped its way to our table, it was stone-cold. And to top it off? A lovely, black, hair was adorning my eggs . I nearly lost my appetite, which is saying something because I was *starving*.
But the real kicker? The manager. Standing there, just *staring* out the window with all the food sitting at the window getting cold and disgusting. Zero urgency, zero care.
Honestly, the only reason this review isn’t a zero-star nightmare is because of our waitress, Sandra. She was the only saving grace of the entire evening. She was the best part of the morning and she was so nice and professional. She was attentive, apologetic for the kitchen’s failings, and genuinely tried to salvage what was left of the experience.
So, thanks to Sandra, I guess I’d come back… but only to tip her. The rest? A total disaster. Avoid this place like the plague unless you’re prepared for a culinary catastrophe.
First…we received xtra cold decaf coffee. I gather the machine was turned off and no our checked. Couldn’t get our server. She was huddle at the host(ess) counter with 4 other servers talking and laughing.
I ordered chicken fried chicken and eggs. The chicken was SOURED. Not a little soured. 100% pure soured chicken. Next, the eggs were way undercooked and RAW. Next, they forgot my hash browns. Service was subpar. Strange because they had 15 people working and 2 tables of customers.
If the staff would work instead of “playing” & socializing, it would probably be better. Every server walked past napkins and trash on the floor. Looked at it, and kept walking. They need a leader to hold them accountable for a certain level of ethics and service.
The manager did come to our table and was VERY nice. She comped our meal and said if we give them another try they will pay for our meal. Hence why I gave 2 stars. Otherwise ZERO is all I could give.
Fact is they need QUALITY CONTROL, BADLY!!!!
I pray I do not get sick with food poisoning.

UPDATE 1/27/24: Went today for breakfast. Changed ratings from 4 to 5 stars. MY GOODNESS our server Chloe was SPECTACULAR. The service was amazingly fast and accurate. Food was cooked perfectly. I would say this was the best visit we’ve had. DEFINITELY the best dining service in Royse City, Fate, Rockwall, and Rowlett. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for speedy service alone.

We went today, Saturday. Got there around 6:55 AM. They opened promptly at 7 A.M.
We were well greeted and advised we can sit anywhere we like.
Service was prompt and pleasant.
The food was fresh and served prompt as well.
Multiple servers checked on us to ensure all was perfect.
One of the owners and the GM was there, but neither stopped by our table. That would have been a nice, personal touch since there were only a few booths of people there.
You get a LOT of food. Be careful what you order. Lol.
Coffee was spectacular. I normally drink 1 cup, but today I had 4.
Only suggestion would be to add some acoustic panels to the walls to absorb some of the sound/noise. That will really make a difference.
This is a great addition to our downtown area. Exactly what was needed.
We will for sure support this small, local business.
A++
My husband and I decided to finally try it out, and I don’t know about everyone else, but I love little cafes mainly for the homemade foods. What we received were burnt hashbrowns, packaged gravy (I’m a cook and can taste the difference immediately between packaged and homemade), and the worst salmon I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. It was completely unseasoned and overcooked.
My husband and I were blown away and not in a good way. We ate what we could and left.
Giving 2 stars simply because the atmosphere inside was pretty nice, and it was a clean restaurant.
I liked that I could see the orders on the screen and the people moving around the kitchen.
However, I’ll never step foot in here again.
I wouldn’t pay those prices again for food that’s below quality of what I eat at home.
