Festive setting for no-frills Southwestern grub accented with a salsa bar, craft beers & tequila.

The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. The portions were larger than expected. We had a great time there and we’ll be back.

We love Texas tubbs. The margaritas are awesome and the food is great, we especially love the happy hour 2-5 half priced margaritas and tacos
Can’t get enough of Tex tubbs

The chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole were great. The actual food not so much. I got one shrimp taco and one chicken and all you could taste on both was the slaw. My husband got a burrito. Lacking in flavor and cleanliness of the restaurant.

On my radar for about a year now and finally tried it. I LOVE the fact that their vegetarian/vegan options are numerous and not an afterthought. I always judge a place by its guac, its rice, and its margs. Guacamole- super tasty and a big amount. Rice- incredible. I got the sweet potato and black bean enchiladas with guajillo and their calabacita tacos. Delicious 🙂 only good things to say and excited to go a second time trying all new things

My family and I decided to stop by for dinner during our quick weekend visit. Food was SO GOOD and prices were also great (we went during happy hour). Everyone finished their food and we all had such a fun time together. The waiters were very friendly and made sure there were no problems. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

We went to Tex Tubb’s Taco Palace in the Schenk-Atwood neighborhood of Madison, a funky bohemian area with a lot of small independent casual restaurants. We snagged a table in the small outdoor patio so that we could enjoy the beautiful summer evening.
We started out with chips and queso, served with freshly made tortilla chips and both medium (green) and hot (red) homemade salsas. I enjoyed it with the spicy melon margarita (the special) – such a cool, refreshing version that fit the moment. The starters were delicious and a good preview of the rest to come.
I had a green chile chicken taco a beef brisket taco. I am going to try not to be hyperbolic, but these were two of the best tacos that I have ever had – anywhere. The beef brisket was tender, homemade, sweet and spicy, and had not a hint of gristle. I found out it was made with Mandy’s Mood Foods “Blazing Nectar” hot sauce, which is produced a few miles north of the restaurant. Seriously, this is good stuff.
Others in my party enjoyed their dishes too (chicken tinga taco, fish taco, chicken fajitas).
Excellent. Highly recommended.

My husband and I ate here for the first time on a Thursday around 11:45. Parking was adequate and the restaurant was not crowded. My hairdresser recommended the place as we were in the area.
We started with queso and chips, requesting them to hold the salsa. We loved that we got a bowl of queso that was big enough for all the chips.
My husband had a regular beef taco salad (they will make any taco into a salad). I had a regular ground beef taco on soft corn tortilla. Oh my! It was so, so good, as was my husband’s salad. The taco was stuffed full – a little hard to handle, but I ate every bite. We had their churros for dessert. They came out hot and delicious.
Two things I need to mention. This restaurant has low table and booth availability- important for disabled and elderly. This was a big plus as so many places have gone solely to pub tables. And, my husband dies not like Mexican food and always fusses about going to a Mexican restaurant. When we left, he said, “When can we go back?!”
We live in Fitchburg and not in this part of Madison often. We are already planning to come back in a few days.
Another note: our wait staff was awesome and our customer service was great.

As locals to the area, this is one of our favorite spots for a fun dinner. This last time we had the absolute best server too, which was the cherry on top. Love coming in for margs, appetizers, and sometimes a full meal! Great for singles or groups, and huge serving sizes for most meals. Our favs are the fajitas, quesadilla, and smothered burritos. Definitely recommend for a Tex-mex outing!

superb happy hour alert! this spot was a recommendation from a friend who lives in Madison. We got a reservation for 4pm and were seated right away, which gave us the one to order chips & queso, along with half-off margaritas & tacos! We split the cucumber marg, hibiscus marg, and mango marg pitchers. I got the green chile chicken taco and an avocado frito taco. I couldn’t finish it all, but wish I could’ve because it was all so delicious. The ingredients were fresh and quality and the tacos were stuffed. Salsas were spicy and fresh, too.
The servers bopped by occasionally and were always helpful and attentive when at or around our table.
Bathrooms were unisex with a cute gemstone/rhinestone border around the restroom sign.
Definitely recommend and hope to go back when we’re visiting in the future.

Because of the parking situation here we showed up EXACTLY 15 minutes late to our reservation. The woman loudly said that she had given our table away because she didn’t think we were coming. Is there no grace period? Because at what time did you decide we weren’t coming? Our waitress seemed frazzled and in a hurry for us to order. Didn’t really feel comfortable asking questions about items on the menu. We ordered guac & chips AND salsa and chips, but when she brought it out we only got 1 basket of chips. When the food came out it was cold and at best lukewarm. They offered to warm it up and gave us a discount. Everything did taste good though.
