What an amazing hidden gem! We drove a little over 30 minutes to try this “must visit” cafe. My short review: It’s worth driving an hour to get this real country cooking that actually tastes like country cooking. There plenty of choices on the menu and we tried quite a variety. Everyone raved about the flavor and quantity of their meals.I had the lasagna with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was excellent! I’m adding some photos of our plates and the wall menu. I’ll be back to try more of their selection and I recommend you make the drive and review it for yourself!
Oh yeah, make sure you leave room for one of those fried pies. They are made in the kitchen and are very fresh!!

1/39/2026: The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed fried catfish, broccoli salad, pickled beets, and cornbread today. The coffee is very good. I took a slice of lemon meringue pie home.

Absolutely the best food we have had stopping at little diners and cafes along our road trips. The service and the food and desserts were all wonderful even the sweet tea ❤️. So many wonderful homemade desserts – we got the peach fried pie turnovers – yummy is all I can say !!
Definitely will be back.

Travelling through from Albuquerque NM, we wanted something yummy to eat and not fast food like. Found this little gem and everything was delicious. I ordered the Country Fried Steak w/gravy with 2 sides, Mac n’ cheese and mashed potatoes. My fiance ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The portions were generous and nothing was left on our plates. Perfect place for a cheeseburger or anything else they have to offer. We ordered two fried pies to go, a chocolate and peach pie. As soon as I have room in my belly again I’ll be munching down on those pies.

My wife and I were traveling the back roads from Spring Hill, Tennessee to Chattanooga, to avoid the interstate and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We decided to find a place to eat. We searched Google and found Tess’s Kitchen Cafe and decided to give it a try.
The entrees that we ordered were made to order and our vegetables were made from scratch. We enjoyed our meals very much.
You don’t have to take the backroads to find Tess’s. You can get off at exit 127 on I-24, and it’s about three minutes from the exit. Take a break from your driving and dine at Tess’s.

Went here for dinner and ordered the meatloaf. I at first thought my stomach was getting upset because I at it fast but as time is going on im getting sicker. Vomiting so far….been 1.5 hours since I ate so we will see. Meatloaf looked atrocious. The sauce on the meatloaf was dehydrated from sitting on a hot plate for no telling how long. First sign this place wasn’t worth eating should have been that they were empty on a Saturday around 6p. Definitely do not recommend & Definitely will not be returning.
