We visited Tesoro Fine Mexican Restaurant in Turlock and were very impressed. Our server Gabby was excellent—she provided detailed information about the menu, recognized that it was our first visit, and took the time to recommend different items based on our appetite without hesitation. She was very attentive, and the timing of the food was just right.
The mixed enchiladas and the mole were delicious. The shrimp with Jalisco sauce was the best plate of the night, and the tacos de papas were extremely good. She talked to us as if she was family. The drinks were very authentic and complemented the food perfectly.
Thank you very much for bringing this type of restaurant to our area. We truly enjoyed the experience and look forward to coming back.

I was excited to see chicken mole on their menu as it’s hard to find Mexican restaurants that offer it so I ordered it. I was disappointed to see chopped chicken as supposed to whole chicken leg or thighs or breast. I guess my expectations were too high considering this is a fine Mexican dining.

Loved the food. Came here with my boyfriend and mom and enjoyed our meals. Served in a timely manner. The server either forgot my mom wanted salt over tajin on her drink or someone else made it and she didn’t tell them her preference. Only thing but the restaurant was at a good price.

This is an interesting place for which I would like to know the history. I ate here at lunch on a Tuesday. Came in right at noon. It was largely empty, though I couldn’t see the bar.
I was seated quickly but did not get any service for several minutes. Service was strangely slow but not unpleasant. Chips and salsa were just okay.
The decor of Tesoro tells me that the owner has the aim to run a more upscale Mexican restaurant. The prices certainly reflect that. But the lack of customers along with prices on the higher end and slow service tell me that this restaurant needs more than pretty design features.
Then the food came. Outstanding enchilada. Some of the best refried beans I’ve ever had. I usually skip my Mexican rice, but I ate most of it on my plate.
If the owner can get the pricing and the service right, their food can carry the show. Curious to know more about this restaurant’s history and aims. Hope they make it!

I ordered a beef milanesa. The plating look promising but it was more like beef chicharron: over cooked, over fried and the beans and rice were bland. I was really looking forward to try a this new place. The interior looks good, the time of the day to be there for sensitive ears is not recommended (4:15 pm on Sunday), they should have doors closed on the other side so people can have a conversation. Too loud!
I hope other dishes are better than mine. The salsa for the chips was great.

We have dined here many times and always enjoy authentic Mexican food. The service is great, and the new decor is outstanding. I was pleased with the old decor however the patio lounge area and bar area in an adjacent room are now a welcome feature and the ambience is that of a classy restaurant without the outrageous prices. The carne asada and shrimp and supreme quesadillas were very good. We are never dissatisfied! We had Tesoro cater our daughter’s baby shower for 80 people recently. (2025). The. Food was provided in large trays that could be placed on warming trays without transferring to another dish(great for cleanup as the trays were disposable) and provided enough servings for more than the amount of people in attendance. Everyone said the food was delicious. I highly recommend them as a caterer!

Tesoro Fine Mexican Restaurant was recommended by a Turlock resident. We did not mind driving 30 miles on such a beautiful day to try them out for lunch. We were greeted with a friendly smile. Immediately seated with chips and salsa. When our food arrived, it was plated nicely and our meals did not disappoint. We highly recommend visiting Tesoro Fine Mexican Restaurant!

Updated: I came on a Wednesday night and was seated right away. It’s been two years since my last experience here, and I was very happy with everything! The servers were attentive, the food very tasty, especially the chicken, and had a great atmosphere. Would recommend and glad I gave it another try!
The food is good but not anything outstanding. Compared to the other choices of Mexican restaurants in town, this spot is a bit overpriced with slow service. My mother liked her taco truck style tacos, but said actual taco truck is better. We like the ambiance and the nice bathrooms. Drink selection was good, and we enjoyed our margaritas. I would recommend this spot for a good drink!

The server was great. However, the menudo was lacking with ingredients (it was half juice) and the pigs foot was not cooked all the way. It cost $17.99, not worth it!
I got the potato tacos, on the menu it said green and purple cabbage. I got shredded lettuce and purple cabbage. If I would have known, I would have asked for no lettuce. I don’t eat lettuce. Very, very disappointed
