We stopped at Terzo for brunch and had some wonderful dishes. But honestly I walked away with a question, whats up with this menu? The food we ordered was amazing, but I feel like the chef and some of their menu choices are trying to be a little too different and experimental.

Our Food:
Spicy Sausage Torchiette – 10 out of 10 – Star of the show, packed with flavor, creamy, perfectly seasoned. My only wish would be is to add more sausage.

Tiramisu Pancake Stack – 9 out of 10 – Excally what you think it will be. Kid favorite.

Farm Fresh Frittata – 9 out of 10 – Im not vegetarian, and even I enjoyed this dish.

Chicken Parm & Waffle Sandwich – 6 out of 10 – I see what they were trying to do, but it falls short.

Overall, it was a great experieince, service was great and I love the new interior design, but the resturant is rebranding and the menu is pushing the boundary too much. The menu has some items I wanted to try, but then they decided to remix some ingredients that make no sence for a brunch menu.

Black Truffle Benny – Who eats mortadella in 2026? Swap out the mortadella for sausage or guanciale and you have a hit.

Salmon Risotto Balls – Salmon? Brunch? Why? Swap this out for ground beef and a goat cheese option and you have a hit.

Amatriciana Beans & Toast – why does this dish have beans?

Chicken Parm & Waffle Sandwich – just make it a regular fried chicken & waffle, add a hot honey option, and you have a hit.

Also, when you have a brunch menu I feel like you need to have some traditional staples that you expect to see. In my opinion every brunch menu should have a steak and eggs, brunch burger, and farmers platter.

How can you have a brunch menu with no bacon and no potatos anywhere?

You can tell that the chef is trying to be different from the other brunch options in Metuchen, but I think he pushed the envelop too much.

The dishes we did order were great and Im glad we have another brunch option in Metuchen other than the very busy Hatch 44.

The food was incredible, starting with the freshly baked bread and leek butter. We loved the calamari appetizer and all the different pastas. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The only minor complaint is the tight space and short chairs.

The food at Terzo was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and well-executed Italian dishes that really stood out. That said, it’s definitely on the pricey side for what you get. The service was slower than expected, and the ambiance was just okay — nice enough, but nothing particularly special.
Overall, great food, but be prepared to spend a bit and allow extra time.

Found this spot on either tiktok or instagram where they talked about their 3 course pasta tasting menu, so of course, safe to say that I was SOLD. Decided to come here to celebrate Valentine’s Day together earlier than everyone else so that we didn’t have to deal with heavy crowds. Honestly, great idea.

For apps, we had Brussels sprouts and their terzo salad and that already was amazing.
Then, of course, we each did the tasting course. There were 6 different pastas on the menu to choose from so we got lucky and were able to try all 6! 10/10 would recommend doing this if you’re on a date with your SO, you should do this so you can try each pasta dish they have to offer.

I would absolutely come back here and would also tell all my friends and family to come here.

Terzo is a hidden gem in Metuchen and made for a perfect lunch date. We started with the Fried Calamari Agridolce and Burrata Fritt and both were excellent, but the calamari was the star. Perfectly fried with layers of flavor, it’s easily one of the best I’ve had. The burrata, paired with prosciutto and truffle honey, was fresh, balanced, and had a nice panko crunch without being greasy.

For mains, we tried the Caramelized Onion Cacio e Pepe and Mafaldine Modenese, and both pastas were fresh, chewy, and packed with flavor. Portions were generous, prices fair, and the menu offers options for different dietary needs. With its warm atmosphere and standout food, Terzo is absolutely worth a visit—whether you’re after fresh pasta or just some of the best calamari around.

My partner and I each did the pasta flights. Our take: the spicy sausage, truffle gnocchi and shrimp bolo are so good! The pistachio, mafaldine modenese, and the cacio e pepe were okay. Pistachio one was very salty. Overall the flight is very filling, the atmosphere is very pleasant and the service is excellent!

I highly recommend celebrating your event with Terzo. We had a party of 23, and I was blown away by how flavorful, delicious, and unique every dish was. The calamari was elevated by tomato agrodolce (it really is the best calamari that many well-dined guests have ever had), the brussel sprouts by garlic cream, the burrata by truffle honey, the salad by hazelnut vinaigrette, the steak by peppercorns, the buccatini by wagyu meatballs, the salmon by guanciale. And the sangria was crisp and bright. We were also able to bring in a cake, and have coffee and tea. The staff was amazing and kept the sangria flowing and checked in with us and the host throughout the meal. The oak room was beautiful to host our event in and the best part is we can’t wait to come back to such an amazing restaurant so close to home.

We went for dinner on a Friday night as a party of 6. It started all great, waitress (the skinny lady w/piercings) was friendly and nice. Then as we started asking questions abt the menu, she started getting annoyed. We are carnivores so don’t want tomato sauce on our wagyu meatballs or asking to hold honey on the burrata, all easy and reasonable requests. We also had vegetarians who didn’t want bacon on their salads or dip. After that it was a complete different service, she would never show up to the table to take our orders or provide bread to the table or refill water and ice, we had to ask other waiters. As someone who was a waiter in their early lifetime, u always glance to your tables if guests need something. And with gratuity added to the check, she has no intention to provide “basic service” and then the backhanded comments when we ask for small plates or to go containers, she was a big turn off to a night where we gathered to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I had a note on my reservation to celebrate her bday and then reminded her before I sat down but she couldn’t care enough to do anything. Food here was delicious, great vibes but service by her was straight up trash. The other waiters were lot friendlier. Enough places in Metuchen or NJ to avoid service like this.

You wanna be a fancy or upscale restaurant? Learn to provide service like one. Plenty of empty tables, in and out, so u really don’t need a reservation, just walk in and u ll be fine.

EDIT: response to the owner comments, since we getting technical, it was prosciutto on the burrata, we asked to hold the prosciutto and she made a big deal so we went with the dip. She might be the best for everyone, but my review is based on my experience. Bottomline, listening to our requests for too much for her, not giving us bread or water or ice was too much for her and owner makes it clear with their comments. Thank You for your attention to this matter.

Had a great dinner here. Vincent gave awesome service. Be sure to try the salt and pepper gelato, very interesting and not something you’ll commonly see. The steak was good, but the pasta was excellent. We had the pasta tasting and were able to try 3 different kinds, the cacio e pepe was our favorite.

Still thinking about the Saturday brunch we had. Amazing duck wings. Best Benny I have had all year. Frittata was on point. Great value with service worth returning for.
