We hosted a team dinner at Terun recently. Logistically, the setup works well as there’s a decent-sized parking lot right behind the restaurant, and they offer outdoor seating with heaters, which is great during the winter months.

Johani was our host for the evening, and he did an amazing job throughout. He was attentive, thoughtful, and professional, and handled the table well. A small but very appreciated detail: when I ordered dessert to go, he kindly packed the fresh berries separately from the panna cotta so the liquid wouldn’t make it soggy a level of care that didn’t go unnoticed.

Unfortunately, the evening didn’t start on the best note. One of the first dishes brought out farro and calamari had a housefly in it, which was clearly off-putting. To their credit, the staff replaced the dish promptly, but it wasn’t the best way to kick off a team dinner.

This was a two-course meal plus dessert.

First course:

Brussels sprouts – decent, nothing standout

Calamari – good in flavor, though the earlier incident impacted the experience

Baked cauliflower – about 3.5/5 from the table

Grilled romaine – a table favorite and one of the better dishes

Second course:

Terùn pizza – my pick, and a solid 4/5

Tricolore pizza, rigatoni, and pollo piccante – feedback from the team put these at around 3/5

Dessert:

Caramel gelato with salt and olive oil – very good and well balanced

Tiramisu – classic and satisfying (takeaway item and not part of the dinner)

Lemon panna cotta with fresh berries – light, refreshing, and nicely done, with thoughtful packaging for takeaway (takeaway item and not part of the dinner)

Overall, Terun has a nice ambiance, convenient location, and excellent service, but the food execution was inconsistent, and the early hygiene issue set an unfortunate tone. With better consistency, this could be a much stronger dining experience.

Grilled salad, I was like what? She was like, yeah grilled lettuce it’s good, and it was real good 🙂 I liked. Then doubled down with the beats salad and that was just pleasant. Had a couple of pizzas and the Margarita was spot on and it was the best one out of the two. Nice place, employees are very nice as well as the host and the manager, they are all there making sure it was perfect so thank you for that. Eat there.

The reviews are true! This is a great spot to grab a dinner on a date night or with your family. Lots of outdoor seating, too, We were greeted by a hostess who sat us right away. You can park in the lot a couple of minutes away.

Delicious pizzas, pastas, and appetizers. We had the magherita and nduja pizza. Loved the heat. We were concerned about time because we needed to catch a show, but the food came out promptly. Our server, Gaby, was attentive and friendly.

They have a solid selection of Italian wines, by the glass and bottle, as well as cocktails and beers. You HAVE to try their house made limoncello!! So good- on par with limoncello I’ve had in Italy. We didn’t get to try the dessert, but will have to next time we return.

Keep this place pinned in your places to check out!

Unreal. The gnocchi is top notch. The bufala mozzarella pizza was crisp, light, and tasty. We got the vegetariana with burrata. Best burrata we ever had, period. And the veggies were cooked really well.

The sangria rossa was lightly sweet, fruity and refreshing. Service was quick and attentive.

Fantastic dining experience. Overall, an amazing place that we definitely will be returning to.

We went today and the experience was fabulous. As Italian food lovers , we can assure you that everything from the Chef’s antipasto to the house dessert carries a unique flavor of Italian cuisine. Each dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and handcrafted. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been enjoying Terun for many years. I find their quality to be outstanding and the food is authentic Italian. This past weekend we had a simple lunch of a pizza and my friend wanted an order of their fries which she loves. They were excellent as always. The pizza, covered with prosciutto, arugula, and shaved Parmesan was nicely done. Crust was excellent. We sat in a high-top table just outside the front door to enjoy the sun and mild weather. Service was prompt, attentive but not intrusive which we enjoyed. Thank you Terun.

The atmosphere and service were great. We sat outside in the back, under the heat lamps. Had the margherita and vegetarian pizzas. They were delicious and fresh, but not super hot. Perhaps that was due to sitting outside (?), so maybe inside is better if it’s cold! The wine recommendation was perfect. Had tiramisu, which was good, but not my favorite among tiramisus.

Walked into Terún expecting authentic Italian magic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, handmade pasta, the whole nonno-approved deal. Instead, I got financially waterboarded by dough and disappointment.
The Margherita arrived looking like it had been aggressively whispered at by a tomato. The sauce was so timid it could’ve been mistaken for marinara-flavored regret. The buffalo mozzarella? More like “buffa-LOW” energy tasted like someone left the good stuff in the back and subbed in sadness. Crust was supposedly blistered to perfection, but it was giving “I was blistered by existential dread” vibes.
Tried the pasta too, because why not double down on the trauma? The gnocchi was denser than a Palo Alto real estate conversation. Chewed for so long I aged three tax seasons. And don’t get me started on the bill—it hit like a Vespa going 90 mph straight into my wallet. I’m pretty sure I financed that side of broccoli rabe for 36 months.
Service was fine if your definition of “fine” is “server who clearly dreams of being anywhere else.” Atmosphere? Loud enough to make you question every life choice that led you to California Ave on a Saturday.
Would I return? Only if they start accepting payment in shattered hopes and leftover disappointment. Terún Palo Alto: where “authentic Italian” meets Bay Area pricing and they both lose.
1 star. Go for the vibes if you hate your bank account. Otherwise, just DoorDash literally anything else.

Definitely the best Italian restaurant in the South Bay. The pizza is chewy and the pasta is so flavorful. The cocktail is wonderful too. Good spot for lunch, you might need reservations for dinner.

Love this place! Obviously their pizza is fantastic, but actually, everything on their menu is fantastic!! It is authentic. This place gets so extremely crowded every day of the week, not just weekends, so make a reservation. Great place for groups so you can order everything and share. Leaving for dessert!
