We pivoted here after a bad vibe elsewhere and I’m glad we did. Shoutout to the service from Satomi, she was warm and efficient. The kitchen moves fast without losing detail. The Spicy Tuna Rice Cake is excellent with real crunch and balanced heat. Signature rolls hit hard: Sexy Roll, Latino Roll, and Mango Roll all tasted fresh with distinct textures. Dessert was a win too, the Teru vanilla brownie with ice cream.
Room feels cozy and lively, not chaotic. Drinks are solid. This is easily top tier on Ventura for roll-forward sushi and consistency.
Pro Tips:
• Start with the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake.
• Add halibut carpaccio for something light.
• Pick one classic and one signature roll to compare.
• Save space for dessert.
Teru Sushi absolutely lives up to its reputation! A friend recommended it as the first (and best) sushi restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, and they weren’t wrong. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. The highlight of the night was meeting the owner, Mike, who went above and beyond — he gave us a tour of the charming back patio with the koi pond and even showed us the private dining area. A true gem in the Valley and a must-visit for any sushi lover!
The food was simply exquisite. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, showcasing the high quality of ingredients they use. The patio area, with its stunning design inspired by traditional Japanese interiors, added an extra layer of charm to our evening.
The lively atmosphere was infectious, especially with two birthday celebrations happening while we were there. The joy and positive energy around us made the experience even more special. Even the valet service was exceptional, with a courteous and professional attendant who added to the overall positive vibe.
Teru Sushi is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place where you can enjoy amazing food, a beautiful ambiance, and the warmth of a family-run business. Thank to Mike and Ali, we had such a memorable time. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back!
Service was top-tier thanks to Mika. Professional, calm, and very attentive. If you value great food and exceptional service, this is the place.
I loved the little entry walkway just outside that gives the feeling you’ve been transported away from Ventura Blvd with the relaxing little bench, pond, and other decor.
The hostess inside was warm, welcoming, and had us seated immediately.
Service from the waitress was also very quick and attentive with making sure we had any items or refills as needed.
On to the sushi!!
There were so many appealing sounding options from the creative menu names and accompanying descriptions, but we ended up going with the Sushi Combination, ‘Studio City’ rolls, and some Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes.
For drinks, we did a Strawberry Nigori Sake, which was a deliciously light and fruity accompaniment to all our sushi!
I loved everything we ordered, and also found the portions quite generous, with both of us being left very full.
A few notes:
For the Sushi Combination, I loved that it came with a little side of miso soup.
Relaxing and soothing, miso soup is always a must for me at Japanese restaurants!
Also, a lot of the sushi for the sushi combination plate had a bit of wasabi on them…that wasn’t an issue to me, but if you’re someone who doesn’t care for wasabi, such as my partner, that may bother you a bit.
The ‘Studio City’ rolls were definite highlights of the meal for the both of us – FULL of salmon, cream cheese, avocado, tempura batter, spicy mayo, AND more….it all went together surprisingly well and was an amazing fusion of flavor, creaminess, & slight heat that ended up working perfectly!
The Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes were also very solid and delicious to enjoy!
We loved everything we ordered for our dinner, and the ‘Studio City’ rolls are a MUST ORDER!
From ambiance, service, and the sushi/other food itself, it was all absolutely a 5 out of 5!!
I highly recommend and will be returning in the future to try more menu options!
The service here was fantastic, someone was always checking on our table and always had someone clearing empty plates. I would highly recommend coming here! If you do, arrive early to get a good parking spot!
