My first time here and it was an experience. The building is super cute and I like the decor however very overwhelming with merchandise everywhere in line. We got there about 15 mins after opening and it seemed very disorganized- drinks were not cold in cooler, bathrooms dirty, staff seemed meh. The young girl serving sides was extremely friendly and I asked a lot of questions- my only side that I was disappointed in was the corn- it needed to be cold or warm not room temp. I was not a fan of the potato salad but others may like it. It was interesting and I can’t decide if I like it or not. The girls at the meat counter were friendly enough one was very nice the other seemed annoyed. The meat options are decent but pricey (expected with bbq). My main issue is none of the bbq had Smokey flavor. While it was cooked good it didn’t have that bbq Smokey flavor I was looking for. The turkey was delicious but tasted like deli meat not smoked turkey. Overall it’s ok bbq. Wasn’t a terrible experience but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

On our way to Kyle, TX for a wedding, my husband and I made a pit stop with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandbabies for lunch — and it was worth every extra mile. My husband has been dreaming about Terry Black’s beef ribs for ages, and they absolutely lived up to the hype: unbelievably tender, smoky, and seasoned to perfection.

We went all in and ordered pork ribs, brisket, sausage, mac & cheese, potatoes, cole slaw, green beans, and a cornbread muffin — and not a single bite disappointed.

The pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the brisket was juicy even in the lean cuts (no small feat), and every meat had its own rich, smoky flavor that made it impossible to choose a favorite. Each one was delicious in its own way.

That said… my personal favorites were the pork ribs, green beans, cole slaw, and cornbread — the perfect balance of savory, smoky, and comforting.

This place is an absolute must-stop, and we’re already planning a special trip back just to eat there again.

The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was as well. The best part was our man Oscar! From greeting you at the front door, taking care of your needs and a friendly wave goodbye from the staff.

Delicious and one of the best BBQ experiences I have ever had. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was Smokey and moist. The ribs were perfectly cooked to tug and take right off the bone. The vibe and service were welcoming and now I can’t wait to go back. BTW don’t miss the banana pudding either.

We didn’t eat. We were waiting for friends and one of the pit masters offered us a tour. It was amazing. He had so much info and his passion for his job and the process was exceptional. I will be going back to eat on this visit all because of him! I didn’t catch his name. Maybe Ray? But he was amazing!

It was cool to walk into the restaurant area and see all the bbq smokers. The food overall was good, not great but good. We ordered brisket, turkey, sausage and Mexican rice and beans as sides. The rice and beans were a little too salty for me but my husband liked them. The sausage and brisket were great, the turkey was a little too dry for my liking. Bbq sauces were good.

Amazing food….bring your wallet, but worth every penny. Oscar greeted us at the door and made the entire experience even more enjoyable by occasionally checking to make sure we were good! We will be here more often!

Terry Black’s in Waco absolutely lives up to the hype. We ordered pretty much the full lineup — brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, sausage, and one of each side — and everything was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The service made the experience even better; we were welcomed right at the door and guided through the ordering process like VIPs.

The atmosphere leans touristy but in an upscale, polished way — a great mix of BBQ joint meets destination spot. Pricing felt fair for the quality, but a friendly warning: it’s very easy to over-order when everything looks that good (ask me how I know).

Parking fills up quickly, so go early if you can. Plenty of seating inside or in the covered outdoor area.

We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended for BBQ lovers, travelers, families, or anyone who appreciates smoked meat done right.
