Beginning in 2006, we have been serving the finest quality food to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. We make all of our pastas in house and are proud to present our guests with a menu free of hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup, yet full of flavor that only the freshest ingredients from local sources can provide. The perfect night for happy hour or an anniversary celebration! Our server Courtney was knowledgeable, friendly, and so kind. Her recommendations were fantastic. We enjoyed the caviar and oysters to start. The clam linguini with cream sauce had the perfect balance of salty, creamy, and al dente for the pasta. My duck entree was rich and cooked to the perfect medium. My fiance’s short rib was robust, flavorful, and wonderfully tender. We ordered a peanut butter bar to enjoy at home. Yum. Can’t believe it took us so long to visit, we will be back!

Dining at Terrapin was a fantastic experience from start to finish. It was cozy and intimate on the terrace… creating a perfect setting for our anniversary. Our server, was exceptional – she was friendly and attentive. All the courses were delicious… and the presentation was beautiful.

Such a disappointing experience! As you can see from the photo, that was my dish straight from the kitchen for $20! I never took a bite. My husband’s dish was equally a disaster. When my husband confronted the owner/manager that we will not pay for these entrées, he became rudely confrontational. My husband pointed out that the customer is right. The owner/manager leaned into my husband and said, “You are not always right!” Unbelievable rude, and what a pretentious man! The atmosphere was like a diner, as well.

We visited Terrapin for the first time during their Valentine’s weekend and were very impressed! The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. Keith and Devon took care of us at the bar and delivered the perfect experience. The meal was paced very well and our cups never ran dry. If you haven’t been here yet, I would strongly recommend you do! We will be going back to experience their full menu soon.

My daughter had received recommendations from friends to try this restaurant. I made reservations and mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday. Upon arrival they had personalized our daughter’s menu with happy birthday and her name across the top. How special! Dave was our server and he was exceptional. Dave was knowledgeable about menu items and was very attentive. We chose the 3 course special menu and every course was good or excellent. We had Old Fashions and the bartender gave us a very nice pour. We were not disappointed and would come back again. Thank you for making our visit one to remember.

This was my first time going here and I loved it! The tuna crudo was better than the one that I had at Wakuda in Vegas. The attention to details and the care for the ingredients was awesome. I’ll be back for sure.

Wow! Can’t believe this place does not have a higher rating!! First time here for our anniversary but it will certainly not be our last! While the menu could be described as simple, I would say that makes the execution even more difficult. The chefs here did an amazing job at delivering well crafted, seasoned, and harmonious dishes. Add the more upscale atmosphere and service, it was a delightful evening. A special thank you to Alea, our server, who was so sweet, knowledgeable, attentive, and caring to make us feel special both as guests and for our anniversary.
More on the food – We opted to go for the 4-course tasting menu (x2) and enjoyed: raw oysters, homemade burrata, linguini w/ clams, short rib rigatoni, lamb lion, chicken piccata, tiramisu, and valhrona chocolate pudding. We left stuffed to say the least!! Felt it was worth the price and would do it again! If your looking to save a bit though while still getting to go out, they do have a very nice selection for happy hour at a lower rate!

I have no experience at this restaurant however, I wanted to bring a very important Italian family from out of state to the best restaurant in Virginia Beach. The menu looks like it’s been written in half Spanish dollar signs and half English which definitely turn this off we also notice that there is no veal parmesan or any of the Italian great dishes. It looks like we’re going to Aldo’s and you guys are missing out on $1,000 dinner

Excellent from start to end!! I have say, this probably the best food I EVER tasted, especially in this area. I’m not even exaggerating.
I made a reservation for my boyfriend. They surprised us by printing his name on the menu wishing him a happy birthday. The food was so beautifully made really and truly. And for dessert- I HIGHLY recommend “The Pear”. Beautiful experience. You will NOT be disappointed.
