This is the last place for our fish and chips junket. We went upstairs to the Terrace Room in the hotel. It was renovated on their rooftop. They had a gazebo like structure and the roof of it were like blinds that can close. Kind of nice to enjoy the outdoors.
After looking at the menu we decided on the mixed seafood platter with an order of fries that we asked for a bit well done. Along with some of their local draft.
I started with the perch and the batter was a bit crusty. The fish was okay but not as moist and tasty as it should. We tried the rest of the platter it tasted just ordinary. Let’s not comment about the rest since I’m just here for the fish and chips. The chips were cooked nicely with a crispness on the outside but the overall flavour profile ( combine with the inside) just was not irresistible. Service was good overall for casual dining. Pricing was a bit on the high side for what we ordered.
The fish and chips here is not something that would draw me to drive from afar for it.

Took my grandson and the family for their first perch dinner to Port Dover today. It wasn’t too busy but they couldn’t give me anything to eat because even though they service three different dining rooms they can’t avoid cross contamination with fish. Obviously hygiene, cleaning and sterilization is not something they practice. I had to go down the street to Knechtel’s on the Beach for a chicken caesar salad. When I returned with my salad to eat with the family, I was not recognized for any service from the waitress. Absolutely disgusting service from the staff, manager and owner. I don’t know how they think they will continue to operate with such blatant disregard for the customers. SHAME!!

This is our second visit but our family has been countless times and everytime the staff are amazing, the food is hot and on the table faster than you would think is possible and even with the insane speed of service the food quality doesn’t suffer at all. Tonight we had some perch meals, a battered cod meal a kits perch and fries as well as a kids chicken fingers and fries. I had the mushroom soup which was very good and I love that they added Celery and carrots into the mix. I also had the battered cod which appeared to be your standard beer battered cod but the batter was crispy on the outside and yet light on the inside without the typical greasy puddle you usually find.
This restaurant has is a historical part of Port Dover since the 1940’s and its still going strong.
This is definitely a must eat here location when you are in Port Dover.

Pretty good, however not as “amazing” as I had been expecting. It’s like a diner with good fish. The perch is what they’re known for (and the celery bread, if you like celery), but everything else was mediocre and to my opinion, overly priced. We spent $125 for lunch for 4 of us! And the balcony wasn’t opened (renovations, maybe??). Staff was good, but not too attentive. So overall good, but not amazing.

Food was great, drinks were amazing ! Service is very quick and you can pick where you’d like to sit on patio which is definitely a plus. Love the water mist especially from how hot it gets on the rooftop patios.

We have been going to the EBH for over 50 years and it remains a constant source of the lightly breaded Lake Erie perch, some deeeeelishuuusss (nice and moist the way I like it!!!) cole slaw and their signature fried CELERY BREAD.
The new(ish) rooftop deck/patio off the TERRACE ROOM remains a terrific spot for fabulous food and drinks in Port Dover.
Just be forewarned……even though they have a terrific vented and slanted pergola roof and misters (some were not working on our outside section!!!) the rooftop can get VERY HOT!!!!

Service was outstanding. Their options for no dairy or beef were limited. They went beyond expectations to ensure I could have something and there was no cross contamination. Food was very good. We both had chicken wraps. The atmosphere is nostalgic but very well taken care of and clean. The staff were excellent.

The Erie Beach has been one of those places that I visit at least a couple of times each summer. The signature Perch dinner with celery bread qualifies as world class fish and chips. There service e is always quick and friendly. I have NEVER had or heard a complaint about the food.
