They’ve got Coke, and I couldn’t resist finishing with a scoop of ice cream — honestly, it hit the spot.
Is it five-star dining? Of course not. But compared to everything else I’ve seen in the park in this category, it’s definitely a step up.
The best part? I had my order in hand in about 5 minutes, which meant I could eat, recharge, and get back on the road without losing half the day.
Sometimes, that’s all you need.
Parking (5/5):
Plenty of parking available—easy, stress-free, and close to the entrance.
Service (4.5/5):
Friendly and accommodating. Staff made the experience smooth and pleasant.
Food (4.5/5):
A bit pricey, but reasonable considering the location. Tasty and satisfying.
Atmosphere & View (4/5):
Not the most scenic spot in Yellowstone, but clean and comfortable with wide table availability.
Convenience (5/5):
Easy to find, easy to order, and well-stocked—grateful they offer so much in a remote area.
Conclusion:
Not the best, but no complaints. A solid stop to rest and refuel. If I’m in the area again, I’d definitely come back.
We must have just hit it right as far as crowds, but we had a great experience at the Terrace Grill on Saturday, June 21. We were staying in the Mammoth cabins and we came in for dinner at 8:00, so a lot of people had cleared out of the park for the night.
We had maybe two families in line before us and ordering was fast and efficient. Prices are higher than a McDonalds but it’s park food, y’all! We are a captive audience so you pay more. Considering what we spent at the Fishing Bridge general store for frozen burgers, the prices here were a better value than most.
We got burgers, fries, and BISON BRATS which were plump, crispy-skinned and delightful, so flavorful and served in a bun with grilled onions and peppers. Really delicious. The burgers were a good size and juicy. We actually got more fries than we all wanted to eat! My daughter was super stoked because there were not just fries, but chili cheese fries on the menu too.
After dinner, we went to the ice cream counter and each got a scoop of some creamy, dreamy dessert. I had huckleberry because, when in Rome, and it was great. You can get ice cream in a cup, cake cone or waffle cone.
I loved the historic building and the views from all the windows of the Mammoth area and the purple mountain twilight spreading out in the distance.
It was a great last dinner in the park before we headed home on Sunday.
