The food is absolutely delicious—my favorites are the French dip and the matzo ball soup, which is невероятно flavorful and comforting every time. The staff is amazing, always friendly and attentive, and the portions are more than generous.
Great people, wonderful food, and a genuine hometown atmosphere. Highly recommend!
The last three takeout orders we received were completely wrong.
First time, I understand that mistakes happen. Second time, was shocked and let them know when I went to go pick up what was left behind. Third time, unacceptable and the manager did nothing to make it right.
When a business does something wrong, they should offer anything they can to win a customer back, especially one who has been a loyal customer for years. The manager asked us what we wanted him to do and when we said we weren’t coming back again to fix their mistake, they had no other options for us and after saying we aren’t coming back as customers, he said okay and hung up the phone. Really? Maybe you should be more accodomating and willing to fix your mistakes.
First time we were charged for a double cheeseburger, received a single.
Second time we asked for extra sauce the wrap came completely dry.
Third time asked for Manhattan clam chowder, received Matzo Ball.
Maybe they can learn a lesson and have someone check the takeout orders before bagging them up. This was even after I checked my order before leaving, seeing everything was finally right and saying “oh the soup must be right, how hard can that be?” Boy was I wrong, and boy do I NOT recommend this diner for the level of service and lackluster way of properly making and bagging take-out orders.
My analysis of the dishes:
• “Fluffy” Pancakes: They are clouds of dough. I ordered the blueberry ones and what I loved is that they use fresh fruit, not artificial syrups. With a little salted butter and maple syrup, they are the ultimate breakfast.
• Eggs Benedict: The hollandaise sauce was at its fair point of acidity and silliness, without being cut. Perfectly poached eggs (liquid yolk at the first cut) on a well-toasted and crispy English muffin.
• The Terrace Burger: A classic diner burger but high. Juicy meat, respected requested term and a brioche bread that lasts well until the last bite. French fries are cut by hand, golden and very crispy.
• Matzo Ball Soup: If you are looking for something comforting, this soup is “medicine for the soul.” The broth is clear and tasty, and the matza ball has the perfect density: firm on the outside and soft on the inside.
• Milkshakes: You can’t leave without trying the vanilla or chocolate. They are thick, served in the classic metal glass and with a mountain of real whipped cream on top.
The final touch: Do not ignore the dessert showcase when entering. The New York-style Cheesecake is dense, creamy and with that graham cookie base that melts in the mouth.
It is the perfect place for those who value well-made food, without pretensions but with quality ingredients. Service of 10 and portions that ensure you don’t go out hungry!
So what separates the good from the best?
Is it the greeting upon arrival, the staff, the atmosphere, the seating, the food?
All these things have a cumulative effect but ultimately the food is a biggie that’s for sure.
Terrace Diner pretty much checks all the boxes!
Our meals were good, the Greek Salad with chicken was full of goodies ( olives, tomatoes, red onions, feta, cucumber, peppers stuffed grape leafs) and plenty too, even could share (see pic’s). The Swiss Burger and fries was okay, the burger meat didn’t seem the best quality(certainly not the wagyu variety) , but it was a craving and hit the spot at the moment.
This is what Diners are all about, salads, burgers, fries, soup, coffee breakfast, oh and rice pudding are typical items to order and the Terrace Diner filled the order for us.
Try it out and let me know.
Update: I recommend the Vegetable Omelette with square deep fried potatoes and turkey bacon. The rye toast is excellent, as well.
