The to-go containers were sturdy, which was a nice touch. However, once I got to my car and started eating, the food was lukewarm at best, despite the long wait. The chicken and thinnly sliced beef was drizzled with teriyaki, but the rice wasn’t fried as expected—it was mushy, like steamed rice that had been sitting out. The veggies were warm and crisp, which was the only highlight. Teriyaki madness – where was the madness? Barely a drizzle over the top. Strange.
While the meal looked decent, the taste and overall experience didn’t live up to the price. Between the lackluster service and the wait time, I’d have to give it two thumbs down.
I’m not sure I’d consider going back, nor would I recommend it. Disappointing overall.
I am writing this review on a Thursday regarding a meal I ordered on Monday night. I ordered the Large Chicken Bowl with the signature “Mad Sauce,” and my wife ordered the Chicken Katsu. I’m still experiencing the burns in my mouth and throat days later. This wasn’t just a “allergic” reaction, this was my bodies response to a chemical irritant.
The Initial Taste:
Within minutes, I knew something was wrong. My wife took one bite of the sauce and refused to eat any more due to the intensity. Context is important here: I am acclimated to spicy foods and can handle significantly more heat than the average person. However, this did not taste like pepper heat. It felt like a chemical burn. I stopped eating it not realizing the damage had been done to my entire gastro tract.
The Physical Reaction:
After less than 10 bites, my mouth and throat felt scorched—not spicy, but burned. Within an hour, it felt as though the inside of my mouth, tongue, and throat had been scrubbed with a Brillo pad. I then became violently ill. I spent the night running to the bathroom, exhausted and unable to sleep. And yes. The acid compound burned on the way out causing further damage. I’ll save you the details.
The Aftermath:
The damage was exceptionally uncomfortable. I was left hoarse from throat burns and suffered bleeding from the gastrointestinal distress the following day. This was not a culinary experience; it felt like ingesting a chemical cocktail of acidic compounds and corn starch. Note, I have a bidet so it was not from wiping.
The Verdict:
This is the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant meal. This is not “hot sauce”; it is an acidic compound that caused physical injury. Beware, they have known about their “hot sauce” for at least 5 years from what I’ve read from online reviews, and refuse to listen to their customers. I reported it to Uber but I doubt I’ll hear anything back.
Tried this last night for the first time. When I got there the line was outside. They were telling everybody a 20 minute wait though. Definitely waited at least 45 mins after ordering.
During the wait to order and waiting for my food I saw about 3 ppl complain about the order being wrong. So when I received my food I checked and one of the plates were wrong. I received fried rice when I asked for noodles. I understand trying to be quick to get the orders out but maybe just slowing down a tad to ensure orders are fast AND CORRECT. Not just fast.
The food was ok. I was expecting more from all the 5 star reviews. We ordered a orange chicken with fried rice, teriyaki breast with noodles and 3 egg rolls. The rice was mushy. The chicken breast overcooked and tough. The egg rolls have a good flavor but seemed like they had been cooked prior to all my other food because they were kinda soggy. The orange chicken was the best thing…good flavor.
Its only been a week since opening so I’ll probably wait until they find their groove before trying again.
I ordered a steak bowl with all veggies. According to all the website & menu pics, the food should, at least, come to the top of the bowl. Mine did not and was only about 1/3 full of veggies, which I paid 1.89 extra for, and the mixture was at least 60% cabbage.
The “steak” looked nothing like what’s on the menu. It was very thin pieces of cheap beef, with a fair amt of inedible grizzle (not a pleasurable experience to pull out of your mouth whilst eating). I would never order the steak again unless I knew the product was changed for better quality & texture. Pics of the offensive grizzle are on the lid & the other pic is the bowl b4 I started eating.
Had I not had a $2 coupon, I would’ve felt ripped off, if I’m honest. I don’t mind paying for good food. But, for over $16 at menu price, for what I received, is terrible business.
I’ll decide whether I’ll visit again, based on the restaurant’s response, assuming there will be one… I’ve noticed the owner only responds to 5 star reviews and can’t be bothered with those who had an issue.
Thank you again.
