Térèze is a chic restaurant in the Santa Teresa neighborhood of Rio. The restaurant is dimly lit and includes elegant decor surrounded by lush vegetation in the garden. The appetizers were tasty and unique, especially the mango ceviche. For main dishes, we went with the Octopus with chickpea puree and the seafood fettuccine. Both were delicious and beautifully arranged on their plates. For drinks, we stuck to caipirinhas, and finally, for dessert, we took the French tartelette with lemon and cachaça cream and the profitelores. Both deserts were tasty and presented beautifully. On top of everything, the service was great. Our waiter was very helpful and kind.

Fantastic restaurant in Santa Teresa.

Cozy atmosphere, extremely pleasant for dinner.

The food was excellent, with Steak Tartare and Lamb stealing the show.

Props for Thiago for the extremely attentive service.

The hostess was so kind to us and the interior is gorgeous. We ordered just dessert and it was kind of bizarre. Some sort of açaí mousse. Wouldn’t recommend the dessert and wish we had tried some of their food instead.

We were really excited to try this place since it was highly recommended to us, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing.

Without us asking, they brought the most expensive bottle of champagne to the table. No water was brought initially. The main person at our table never received their fish dish while everyone else was served and finished eating. We waited over 25 minutes. When fish was finally brought out, it was given to a different table even though our entire table had already finished.

When we addressed it, there was no apology. No acknowledgment. The tip was automatically added to the bill and nothing was adjusted or removed as a courtesy despite the clear service failure.

For a restaurant with this reputation and pricing, we expected significantly better service and basic accountability.

Very disappointing experience.

My dining experiences at Térèze, the restaurant at MGallery Santa Teresa, were nothing short of exceptional. Whether for breakfast or dinner, every meal was a delight, with impeccable service and outstanding food quality.

Breakfast:
Though not a buffet, the refined table service made the experience even more special. Instead of navigating a crowded spread, the staff—especially Aroido—brought everything we desired straight to the table. The selection was fantastic: fresh, vibrant fruits, perfectly cooked eggs, artisanal bread, and delicious cereals. Aroido was extremely helpful and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed while adding warmth to the morning. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients made it one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had.

Dinner:
Dinner was just as impressive. Every dish was exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented, showcasing a blend of flavors that highlighted both creativity and technique. The menu offers a wonderful mix of local and international influences, and each plate we tried was a standout. Thiago, our server, was patient, professional, and attentive, guiding us through the menu with expertise and making excellent recommendations.

Final Thoughts:
Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, Térèze is worth a visit. The combination of delicious food, elegant presentation, and outstanding service (thanks to Aroido and Thiago!) makes it a true gem in Santa Teresa. Whether for a leisurely breakfast or a memorable dinner, this restaurant exceeds expectations. Highly recommended!

Great location, great food, great service.

Heard about the place through a guide and decided to come, it was a great experience, the mushroom tartar was a great starter and the octopus has been one of my favorite dishes so far in Rio. I came for lunch but probably the dinner environment is even better.

Probably one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had—though to be fair, I came in with high expectations. Some dishes lacked flavor, while others were simply poorly executed (the shrimp, for example, were severely overcooked). Overall, the food just doesn’t justify the high price point. The service was really really bad, the attitude of the staff was terrible. I bet there are better options around.

A beautiful hotel and lovely date night spot but it was really let down by the food. The bread was fantastic but I imagine they bring that in from outside. We had the lobster tartare to start, the lobster was not fresh and was 2 very small pieces accompanied by a full very tart apple. For the main I got the pork which was extremely over cooked and dry. I would say overall it was extremely expense for the quality. We went to Oyca the next day, had a way nicer experience, better service and food for less than half the price including dessert.

The service was incredibly slow. We waited an hour for our food at about 2 pm on a slow Thursday. The food arrived and was inedible. The ceviche was incredibly tart with lime juice, almost inedible. Please see photo for a “‘medium” steak…. Keep in mind this steak took an hour to arrive. I would not recommend this restaurant to locals or tourists. I am disappointed and embarrassed that I included this restaurant on the schedule for my group.

If you’re in the Santa Teresa area, make sure to check out this hidden gem of a restaurant located inside a hotel. As soon as you step through the hotel entrance, you’ll feel transported to a different world. Despite not having a reservation, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to snag a table for dinner. The service was excellent at first, but understandably became less attentive as the restaurant got busier. However, it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the evening.

While I wasn’t a huge fan of the bottle of wine I had, I was enamored by the restaurant’s romantic atmosphere and cozy ambiance. The dinner itself was excellent and reasonably priced. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to sit by the window, I caught a glimpse of the stunning valley and surrounding mountains from afar.

Don’t miss out on this restaurant if you’re in the area. It’s well worth a visit.
