Welcome to our kitchen! Two chefs and a foodie set out to change the way people eat for the better. Our inspiration? The meals we had when our friends came over. The food. The pairings. The exploration. The energy. And the promise that on any given day we’d eat or drink something we wouldn’t find anywhere else. So we opened Tender Greens in 2006 and started a food revolution. We start with the best ingredients, cook from the heart and let our food do the talking. No compromises, no matter what. Sustainability is at the core of all the choices we make, from our food to our planet to the future of farming. It’s in our DNA. After all, we’re chefs.
Modern, cafeteria-style chain serving area-sourced, globally influenced plates, sandwiches & salads.

I ordered a salmon with steamed vegetables along with their skirt steak. The salmon was delicious and the skirt steak was nice and tender. I also tried their green pozole and it was pretty good overall. Overall the dining experience was solid.
I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items.
However, my second visit was very disappointing. I ordered the Thai bowl with steak well done. I made sure to emphasize “well done” three times – twice at the register and once after placing the order when I noticed that the cashier hadn’t noted “well done” on the receipt. However, when I received my food, the steak was not cooked as requested. I brought this to their attention, and they corrected it. It did take a while, but I’m glad they were able to make it right.
Secondly, Jason who took our order suggested the things we ate and he is exceptional. His smile, his service, and so friendly. You need more of him! The other staff, Mayen & Evelyn were also great! Overall experience was awesome!
Anyways, the last two times SUCKED! it takes them FOREVER to make the food. This last time there it was us and one other couple… FOREVER. I understand that there may be online orders but one of the workers was just standing there i had to ask how much longer…
Also, on the previous occasion we had to speak to the manager who was in the kitchen packing our food AFTER we had to ask for a status on our order.. he handled the food without gloves.
We will no longer be returning. Which is a shame bc I really like the food. . . Should be easy and cheaper to make at home.
The food here leans toward good—just not spectacular. The Bolognese Pasta is hearty but falls short of expectations. While the texture of the rotini is on point, the sauce lacks the rich, tangy “punch” that defines a great bolognese. A stronger tomato base could elevate this dish from decent to memorable.
On a brighter note, the seasonal plates showcase the freshness of their ingredients. The roasted fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetables, including perfectly charred cauliflower and sweet carrots, deliver a satisfying mix of earthy and sweet flavors. The grilled bread is a welcome addition, though it feels more like a filler than a standout.
If you’re looking for a lighter option, the arugula salad with grilled chicken offers a crisp and peppery bite, complemented by tender protein and well-balanced vinaigrette.
The service is efficient, and the setup is refreshingly casual—ideal for lunch breaks or a laid-back dinner. Tendergreens shines as a place for clean, well-prepared meals that won’t weigh you down, even if the flavor might not linger in your memory.
Verdict: Worth a visit if you’re in the area and want fresh, healthy options. Just don’t come expecting bold flavors.
Pro Tip: The short rib plate seems to be a favorite based on other diners’ recommendations—maybe that’s the hidden gem we missed!
The Tuna Niçoise salad has been a gateway salad; a food I never ate prior to my infatuation with the restaurant chain. Since then I’ve chosen to eat salads for meals several times a week in my daily life, but no salad ever has been as tasty as the Tuna Nicoise from Tender Greens. The review is definitely a bit ranty, but I really wanted to express the impact the restaurant has had on my life. I wish all the success for you, and I hope you consider opening one in the Antelope Valley near Palmdale. Even opening one in Santa Clarita would be great. The community there is very health conscious, and it’s only 30 minutes from me.
