Reviews
Your response to my partner’s review is unsatisfactory and condescending. I left what I had thought to be a helpful review for anyone wondering what it may be like to dine here if they don’t eat meat.
Yes, OBVIOUSLY vegetable tempura is vegetarian ♂️ That doesn’t change the fact that no where on the menu does it state that other dishes could be made vegetarian, and your server was pushy and rude when we needed more time to order (because we had only just found out what could be eaten by my partner).
The vegetable choices for the tempura didn’t work well in the dish. The broccoli was inedible, as agreed by our whole table. My chicken tempura bao buns were nice enough, but overall was a pretty crappy experience. Paid more than £20 for a bottle of wine that you can get in tesco for a fiver.
I wholeheartedly regret trying a new restaurant, and will just continue to eat at @home Thai since they are the only restaurant in town that hasn’t disappointed me so far.
It’s a must try restaurant!!
Tempura offered nice sized servings of crispy battered fish, chicken and more,
delish deserts also.
2 meals, 2 deserts, 2 wines & 2 shandys under £70.
Nice place to stop n eat in another wise sadly dead town center.
Will deff stop in again next visit.
The price is on par with things like bucks bar in glasgow so most the main dishes I think ran between 12 to 19 pounds, fairly standard these days.
Drinks are a big pricey but I dont drink alcohol, their cola wasnt very fizzy and didnt have a great deal of flavour, I would have preferred pepsi, thats a personal preference though.
I got the small chicken tempura and believe me, the small is enough if your not a big eater, if I had of gone for the large, I would have needed a to-go bag. The batter was perfect the chilli sauce was lovely, very much enjoyed the dish.
My Mr got the chicken burger, the thing was massive, two very large crispy chicken steaks and an extra thick hash brown on top, he said there wasnt a great deal of flavour so maybe just needed a bit more seasoning and there was a small tough bit on the end but this happens so nit a big deal, battered to perfection though.
The fries were fantastic, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, very morish, would be great with a chicken seasoning and coleslaw with some waffles and tempura on the side.
The staff were very friendly and approachable, smiled and remained helpful the whole time there, explained the menu without needing to ask and had great manners too. It was a good atmosphere in the place though the building was very small so a bit of a smoosh when getting by tables for the toilet or maneuvering round the place, would not go with a big party and may need to wait on a table because it is popular, glad we went though.
The decor was busy there was a lot to look at including the space sent deep fried Mars bar and though its a busy decor I actually like that, its interesting, especially while your waiting.
I would definitely recommend this place, todays a tough day for the family being the birthday of 2 members now no longer with us and the funeral anniversary of another so we really needed an enjoyable late lunch to take the mind off and thats exactly what we got we would definitely go back, thank you very much for the positive experience.
The food is fantastic, with a brilliant range of vegetarian options that don’t feel like an afterthought. It genuinely caters for everyone – whether you’re veggie, not veggie, or just here because your friends promised you great food (they were right).
The interior is amazing: eclectic, stylish, and interesting enough that you could happily sit people-watching and décor-spotting between bites. The atmosphere is warm and buzzing, and the service is top-notch – friendly, attentive, and fast enough to stop us getting hangry.
Drinks are very reasonably priced too, which is dangerously good news when you’re having such a great time.
All in all, Tempura ticks every box: great food, great vibes, great service, and three very satisfied customers (David, Rob, and me). Highly recommend!
