We chose the Chef’s Menu and from the very first bite, we knew we were in for something special. It began with warm bread and the most delicious creamy butter, pickles and the most glorious little pockets of savoury, fluffy, donut-like goodness topped with thinly sliced salty beef — absolutely divine. Next came a creamy tuna tartare scooped up with crunchy tortilla-style crackers — this was a definite favourite. Then a stunning plate of mixed, fresh Tasmanian tomatoes bursting with colour and flavour, paired with creamy whipped burrata. The Campanelle Gorgonzola was nothing short of sublime. There was so much more to enjoy, and guess that’s the beauty of a chef’s menu, it’s their choice on the night, based on best Tasmanian fresh produce available. If you experience even half of the taste sensations we did, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable gastronomic experience — and the wine was equally delicious. We’ll absolutely be back.
TEMPLO – a small, unassuming street frontage of a building which cleverly disguised the genius of the chef tucked away inside, as he was someone who prepared an incredible set menu for us all. We of course, eased into the experience lubricated by some lovey local wines and spirits.
Seating only around 25 people, the place was rustic, filled with atmosphere as it came to life when we were all seated (some of us at a communal round dining table) and did not disappoint.
We ate amongst people we’d never met, mingled, laughed and shared stories that made the experience even more memorable.
The chefs menu was amazing, showcasing local produce, prepared in the tiniest of kitchens by fast working skilful hands, and served to us by a pair of attentive and very friendly team members. It felt like eating in a large family home amongst family, and was an experience I’d highly recommend.
Our six o’clock start, ended at a little after eight, and we left there completely satisfied with a food experience to remember. We will book again when we’re in Tassie next, and will definitely ask to be seated at the communal table again.
A huge thanks to the TEMPLO team for a memorable way to end our trip.
Great for celebrating special occasions. We were there for our 12 years anniversary and our minion’s 10 year-old birthday.
Some of the food was a bit too sophisticated for the kid, but they certainly were delights for the grownups!
We had a great time! Make sure you mark this place for your next special occasion.
The space is tiny, but charming – I was dining solo and was sat at the tiniest high top I’ve ever seen, there were two stools but you really couldn’t have fit two people. I found the table very uncomfortable. The wine by the glass list is lackluster, but there are some fine options. I found the pacing painfully slow, I was bored and anxious to leave by the fifth course, but I was also solo, it would have been different if I were with someone.
The food is fine, just fine, not great. The oyster add on was good and the crab pasta was the stand out. The portions are small but plenty, much appreciated- you don’t leave feeling too stuffed. I wouldn’t return but can see how this would be a great date night spot. This meal was NOT worth the $120 I paid.
Staff were fantastic and recommended lovely wines to go with our dinner
