I’ve enjoyed Ethiopian food many times and was really excited to hear this spot opened close by. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match my expectations. Our waitress lacked warmth and never mentioned the happy hour menu — we only found out because a neighboring table had one. The food arrived cold, and the drinks took quite a while to come out.
It’s disappointing because I truly appreciate the cuisine and culture, but this visit fell short. Sadly, I’ve checked this place off my list and won’t be returning.
Went to a restaurant next door for drinks and an appetizer.
I wonder if the negative reviews get flagged? Because this was not it. Would not recommend. Felt like the tables close to us got the attention, and the happy hour menu but ours. Weird vibes for sure. Definitely disappointing.

I’d never had Ethiopian food, but very glad I now have. Everything I ate here was delicious and I really appreciate the variety of flavors between ask the dishes on my plate. Efrem, our waiter, was just wonderful. Highly recommend!

Really amazing dinner spot! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and feels both fresh and cozy. The staff is kind and happy to answer any questions about the food. We enjoyed the meat sampler and had enough leftover for lunch the next day! Reasonable prices and great experience overall.

my experience here was excellent. All the staff were smiling, even the chef. The food was exceptional and I enjoyed the atmosphere. It felt intimate and special. The most important thing to know is that this is a family own business that has been here for 11 years. I wish I knew about it earlier. The bottom line is that most people will be happy to have visited this restaurant.

I don’t want to be the guy that writes a bad review. But. We ate at Teff for the first time last night. It was Restaurant Week, so perhaps they were overcrowded. I think nearly every table was full. The food was delicious. Great presentation, and very tasty. Our server wasn’t particularly warm or smiling, but this may be because they were very busy. I think I only saw two wait staff. Definitely makes for a tough night. We waited a bit for the appetizer, and we nearly finished it before our cocktails arrived. The main course was really outstanding. Hats off to the chef. I do have one slight recommendation for your restaurant. Ethiopian is of course eaten with your fingers. It would be so nice if we were presented with a bowl of lemon water, or even some prepackaged wipes to clean our hands before we ate. And I would recommend the same at the end of the meal. The waitress brought the check, and I had to use my sticky fingers to extract my wallet from my pocket. I finally dipped my napkin in my glass of water so I wouldn’t get the CC terminal all messy. For those older folks (I’m 65), it’s a hard room with concrete floors and brick walls, no tablecloths, and music, so hearing was definitely a challenge. The sound bounced around quite a bit. Please go give the food a try, and to the management, please provide a way for diners to clean their hands. You will have happier patrons!

I was recommended this place and so glad I tried it! The food was absolutely delicious. The spices were brought from Ethiopia to flavor the tasty dishes and days are devoted to making the wonderful meals and Ethiopian wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. I can’t end this review without thanking my wonderful host Asmeret who did a phenomenal job explaining the meals, drinks and the culture with my husband and I. Asmeret was passionate about the business and you can tell that their family runs this business with love. I am looking forward to returning to Teff and recommend this place to anyone in search of delicious Ethiopian food like they’ve never had before! I also recommend this place to anyone who loves leaving restaurants with leftovers. The portion sizes are nice and large, the prices were very reasonable and my leftovers were just as amazing as when I had the meal at the restaurant.

We were visiting my brother and his family from Boston- they live in Greenwich and brought us here. The food here was so much better better than any place in Aniston. The environment was nicer than any Ethiopian restaurant I’ve been to. The service was excellent – they never let us run out of injera- and I even had a delicious cocktail. Wish this was in Boston!

The clean warm design of the new place in Columbus Circle with its jungle motif is lovely. The food is light but the proportions are huge so I literally didn’t finish but felt totally full. Service is excellent! Cocktails are creative. Whats not to like?

So glad this place opened up downtown!! Excellent food and service. I had time to check this out solo last weekend and hung out at the bar. Got the Shikorina cocktail (balanced, rum-based, passion-fruit forward) and the vegan solo sampler. Nick was a sweet and very attentive bartender.
I can’t wait to head back here with friends and explore the rest of this delicious, vegan-friendly menu.

Attentive service and tasteful decor make this an inviting spot for a healthy, tasty Ethiopian meal. The portions were a tad small (only two small pieces of chicken in the doro wot), but the flavors were there. The gomen (collard greens) were not terribly hot though. Would come back.
