Sunday evening my husband and I decided to order locally and we chose Ted’s. I captured our selections on paper before calling to order to be sure I got exactly what we wanted. I called using my cell phone which has a 301 area code. (I was stationed in Maryland when I got the number and have seen no need to change it.) I verbalized our order to the gentleman who answered. All went as expected.
I arrived to pick up our order and the gentleman, who is very sharp by the way, was there along with a woman. Both were very welcoming and pleasant. We talked about the Saints’ recent victory and speeding tickets, etc etc. Nice time, right?
Well our order costed much more than anticipated and I got home to discover there were no rib tips. This is the main reason we ordered from them… the rib tips! We got beef brisket instead. We like brisket, but had a taste for rib tips. The 1/2 chicken smoked platters with baked beans, coleslaw, and Texas toast were delicious. The food is good! No rib tips!
I called back and was told they haven’t had rib tips since COVID.
Why wasn’t I told that when I placed my order?
There was no empathy or offer to make it right either.
Why hasn’t the menu been updated online?
Did they think we were tourists due to area code?
✔️ The menu in the restaurant showed the increased prices, but I didn’t take a photo. The cost went from approximately $36+ tax and tip to $58 with tax plus a $7tip. We always tip!
FYI: The menu items and prices have changed. Another case of “It is what it is!”
Got to be more careful!

Amazing food, recommended. The brisket was out of this world. The links and the pulled pork were excellent. The sides (garlic mashed potatoes and beans) delicious. If you are in Kenner you must definitely visit this place.

Are you kidding? Why haven’t I been here before? As soon as you walk in, you get a nice nostalgic cozy spot feel and the food was to match. Good ol comfort food, sliced thickly melt in your mouth brisket with their bbq sauce smeared all over (tbh does not need it) super amount of flavor already! Took the sides of coleslaw, and potato salad. Mmmmm… just good ol down south bbq comfort.

We ordered brisket sandwiches & Ted’s special. Everything was wonderful, with good portions and delicious sides too. The folks were friendly & the service prompt. We’ll be back next time we’re in town!

The parking lot is very small, we called ahead and asked if they had beef ribs. The woman we spoke to said yes! Great because we don’t eat pork really. We arrive and I wait on the order. As my order is coming out the woman who is helping is coughing all over the place and clearly sick. I leave quickly thinking, well the food is probably still good and at this point I’m hangry because I’ve been waiting a long time. I go to eat some delicious beef ribs and wouldn’t you know it, they’re pork. The chicken was dry and the beef brisket was dry, lacked smokey flavor and was over priced. The cole slaw had no flavor. Save yourself some money.

Brisket was excellent!!! Large sandwiches are a good size. The sauce was my main complaint. Taste to much like ketchup and the portion size on the 3 meat platter wasn’t as big as I thought it would be for $17 + tax. But the overall smoke flavor on the meats was delicious. I would definitely eat here again!!!!

I had been craving bbq all week. My expectations increased as I walked into this place because of the smokey smell. I was not disappointed! Ribs, brisket and pulled pork were delicious. Potato salad, beans and garlic mash potatoes were all great. Even the bread that comes with the platters tasted really good. My only complaint is the parking lot is tiny. But I would walk there if I had to, it’s that good! If I wasn’t stuffed I’d go get some more.

Was visiting from NYC and every time I drive South I try every BBQ place I can find looking for perfect ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Went to Ted’s 3 times for lunch, dinner etc over the course of four days. Needless to say, the meats and sides were GREAT. As an added bonus, buy a few extra pieces of the homemade garlic toasted bread. Yummy !! The owner/waiter etc….is my age and way overworked, so go there with a little patience, smile and chit chat and he’s lovely. Also enjoyed chatting with a few other patrons waiting for their orders. Nice, local down-to-earth people. I highly recommend this Smokehouse !!

Not a fancy place but who cares with food this good?
It is worth the drive from anywhere in the NOLA area!
Our server was super friendly and attentive! When we told her it was our first time in and she made us feel like regulars and filled us in on how everything short of the potato salad is made IN HOUSE!
I had the “Monday night smoked hamburger special” that was delicious!! The burger patty is smoked along with all the other meats and the smoke flavor in the burger was amazing.
Hint: Ted, go ahead make it a regular menu item! It merits it’s own spot!!
(It really is a great burger!!)
My husband had the Ted’s Special w/brisket, pulled pork and ribs all of it ~~melt in your mouth~~ AWESOME!
Baked beans have both pulled pork and brisket in them making another winner!
The BBQ sauce…perfect mix of tang and sweet…the tang is stronger than the sweet! If you are a fan of tangy vinegar based BBQ sauce you will LOVE the sauce. It’s darn good for dipping your fries in!!
We travel a lot due to work and often finding good BBQ takes some work and we are glad we found Ted’s Smokehouse. I see a lot of take out from Ted’s in our future!!

The chicken was very dry, the brisket was good but everything was covered in the same sauce which you can’t really taste the meat through anyways. I had to add salt and pepper to my mashed potatoes because it tasted very plain-like boiled potatoes with bacon bits-That’s it. and so did the corn. The parking lot is tiny. It didn’t taste like anything was really seasoned, just smoked. Their “Texas Toast” is a square slice of white bread toasted with butter/garlic on it, cut in half. I expected something more like Raising Canes Texas Toast. I also think it’s overpriced. I was curious to try this place considering the good reviews and I pass it almost everyday but I won’t be going back. I’m shocked so many people think it’s so great. Maybe it’s just my ethnic taste buds but It sure needs more seasoning. The staff was nice though.
