Cute cafe with so many different foods and drinks, chances to win free blind boxes if you order a certain dollar amount, and the option to order from a kiosk, using a QR code, or speaking with a server. The lighting is a little bright, so it’s more of a fun hangout spot than a date option. We really liked the rose honey chicken wings, Taiwan minced pork sauce over noodle, scallion oil noodle, and signature tofu pudding. The chicken salted egg yolk pasta was just okay.

We’ve been hearing about teawood for a while and given our experiences in Taiwan, we’ve been really looking forward to eating there. It wasn’t crowded as we went early around 5:30 pm. I ordered the beef noodle soup and my wife ordered the minced pork over rice and added an egg. My soup was very large and had generous portions of beef and noodles.

The broth was dark and intense in a good way, I liked it very much but the minced pork with rice came out and the minced pork was cold!!! It had not been heated. We asked the waitress to fix it but she seeemed uncertain about what to do. Finally she went into the kitchen and brought out a new bowl of hot minced pork to put over the cold pork and the warm rice. That dish was surprisingly soupy in not a good way!

Later we ordered the durian tofu pudding from her and she went into the kitchen to make sure they had it. When she came out she indicated that it was available but that it’s COLD!!! Well of course it is!!! Generally we want our entrees hot and our desserts cold. I’m assuming after we asked for a hot entree, everything we ordered we’d wanted it hot? I can’t believe that level of incompetence and ignorance!!! So service is not a highlight of teawood. Now the durian tofu for $6.95 was sublime. Highly, highly recommended!!! We’ll be back to try more dishes and to make sure the staff gives us hot entrees and cold desserts!!!

Teawood Cafe was a bit underwhelming. I tried it after seeing it on TikTok, but the milk tea with the bear was a letdown…it had almost no tea flavor and tasted more like soy milk. The appetizers were decent: the super long fries with truffle dip and fried tofu were okay, but nothing to rave about. The fried pork chop noodles were hit or miss, the pork chop was good, but the noodles were overly salty, even after mixing in the sauce.

Authentic Taiwanese food, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, great boba. Meal portions are big so it’s good if you’re hungry. Otherwise don’t over order

Teawood is one of my family’s new favorites. It’s rare to find legit Taiwanese food in SF for some reason, and this place has it. This is what we got:

Fried chicken over minced pork noodle (B02) – really good. Chicken is nicely fried, great flavor, and very juicy. Noodles are really good too, very good texture and flavor.

Popcorn chicken with minced pork rice (RE04) – also super good. Similar to above but with rice and popcorn chicken style.

Braised beef noodle soup (N01) – I really enjoyed this. It has the right taste, the noodles are bouncy, and the meat is very very tender. They also give A LOT of meat.

Fried pork chop curry rice (RE05) – pretty good, for some reason one of my kid’s favorites.

So food is really good, though I think the menu could benefit from a redesign because it’s confusing to read. But so happy this place is around now. Will definitely be coming back often!

A very welcomed addition to the neighborhood! Taiwanese food that could be inconsistent at times, we had 5 dishes so far and liked 4 out of 5! So that’s a good sign. The drinks are hefty as well which is great. But I have to give a shout out to Vivian, who was going above and beyond for every table, she was running around making sure everyone had what they needed, all while she seemed to enjoy her job!

The inside is spacious and you won’t feel crammed, with cute signs and an emphasis on a cute bear.

TeaWood Cafe did a good job decorating the restaurant and with the creative dishes on the menu. Props to Lisa X and Genevieve Y. for posting nice food photos. If you order the cutlet noodle dishes, they don’t serve it on the side. You need to order the rice dishes to get the cutlet on the side. There was one waiter working 10+ tables and to-go. Naturally, there’s a long wait for service. Same with the kitchen, very slow. I have a soft spot for Taiwanese food. My Taiwanese pork cutlet noodles needed pickled mustard greens. My friend’s fried chicken noodles had it. It also needed scallions. Overall, good job staff at TeaWood Cafe.

these purple rice yogurts are SO GOOD. We tried the original one first and then loved it so much we ordered 4 more – one more original, two mango, and one matcha. They taste a little sweet, a little sour, and have the perfect about of chewy texture served cold. Comes in a cute reusable container with a straw. Definitely coming back here for these again
