Beautiful restaurant. Was really a surprise. White baby grand piano. Staff was helpful and friendly. Our appetizers were scallion pancakes and dim sum and very good. The entrees had a great deal of peppers and salt and overwhelmed our tongues and our ability to finish our meal. The menu was beautiful pictures of every item. Very helpful.

We visited the Tea Horse Sochuan Bistro for a dinner date with friends. We had a reservation so we did not need to wait for our table. The restaurant has a bar and some specialty cocktails that were very tasty! On to the food, everything we ordered was exceptional. We had the cabbage and green beans as some side options, both were packed with flavor and the spice gave it a perfect kick. Since this was our first time visiting this restaurant, we tried numerous entrees. Most of these are family style dishes so its easy to share at the table. The duck, clams, tofu, chicken fried rice, lo mein, and pork belly…..EXCELLENT! I will definitely return and bring a friend to share in this flavorful experience. The food is reasonably priced for the amount you get. The restaurant staff weee very friendly and attentive to our needs and requests.

We were seated quickly and were met with friendly staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was really friendly and casual, you know its a good sign when you see the staff enjoying the food they serve and that’s precisely what we saw when we walked in.

The menu was incredible and included pictures of the food they served which was really helpful- the food that was brought out looked exactly like the pictures. The drink menu was also very expansive and detailed. Didn’t order a drink but might next time.

Our food was brought out very quickly – the portions were very generous!! We were amazed. For the portions the pricing is incredibly fair. I ordered the Mapo Tofu, my friend the Beef and Shallots – and we got Dan Dan Noodles as an appetizer. Our dishes both came with bowls of white rice.

Mapo Tofu was something I was scared to try for a long time because I knew Sichuan food is known for its spiciness, but I was impressed to find that while spicy, the spice level was incredibly complex and flavorful with many depths to the taste. The texture was amazing. My friend’s dish, the shallots were incredible and everything was well-seasoned, the texture was fantastic. The Dan Dan Noodles had amazing flavor and texture as well.

Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Ellicott City and looking for a good place to eat Sichuan cuisine. I will definitely be back, please give this place a try if you’re curious about Sichuan food.

We had a great dinner here on a Friday night! We came at around 6pm and got seated right away.

My favorites were the chili oil wontons 红油抄手 and eggplant garlic stir fry. The beef dry hot pot and the peppercorn fish had too much of a strong peppercorn oil flavor. I will definitely be back to try other dishes though!

The decor is beautiful and service is great.

I had the chance to dine at Tea Horse, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious compared to how it looks from the outside, with a nice balance of fancy yet casual vibes. The staff were friendly and offered great suggestions based on our preferences.
Now, let’s talk about the food, absolutely amazing! Every dish was bursting with taste. The portions were generous (we even had to take some home), and it reheated well without losing any of its rich flavors.
Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I look forward to returning.

What a gem!
From the outside it looks like it could be any other Chinese restaurant, but it’s truly unique.

It’s a spacious, clean, classy restaurant with a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The service takes second to none, very friendly staff, attentive and quick.
The food came out in the blink of an eye and it was bursting with heat and flavor. The menu has a fantastic variety of traditional Sichuan dishes, the portions are very generous and the food is utterly delicious.

Already planning a second visit.

I love this place so much! Me and my mom come here quite often, and always try something new because it’s all delicious. The employees are all so welcoming and kind. Even if we come when it’s busy, we get seated quickly and taken care of. The employees also put the World Series game on the big screen when we asked .
Our absolute favourite dishes are the green beans with pork, the cold chicken in chili sauce, and the mapo tofu … and always a pot of white tea! The dishes are always big, though, so come prepared to share or take home leftovers. Also there’s a cash discount!

One of the best sichuan meals (5 different dishes) we have had in years. As fine as NYC and SF Chinatown places. Service and ambience excellent.

In the course of two days, we came to this restaurant twice! The setting of Tea Horse is gorgeous, newly renovated and with creative integrations of Chinese culture and modernness. We ordered a sweet and spicy soup, and to start off, it was delicious. I’ve been to restaurants where the soup is too watery and has no flavor, but this soup is authentic and the tofu is soft and silky. Next, the spicy beef tripe also met our standards. it was flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, and chewy beef tripe. For veggies, we ordered stir fried green beans, and when I say that they are DELICIOUS, they really are. The toasted mustard stems and minced meat bring out so much flavor and the green beans themselves are extremely crunchy. Finally, the fried pork kidneys were here. Unexpectedly soft but crisp on the outside, the pork kidneys were simply amazing. Complemented with bok choy, wood ear mushrooms, and spicy sauce, the dish is scrumptious. And don’t be afraid: even though pork kidneys sounds scary, don’t worry, it’s so delicious and you’ll forget about what it is entirely.
