Among the growing sea of bubble tea shops and casual eateries, Tea Hill quietly stands out. Not because it tries too hard, but because it delivers something far more valuable: authenticity. From the first bite of their Taiwanese popcorn chicken to the final sip of jasmine green milk tea, this place captures the essence of Taiwan with impressive clarity.

The popcorn chicken is a highlight. Each piece arrives hot, golden, and perfectly crisp. The seasoning is subtle, allowing the marinated chicken to shine without overpowering it. What elevates the dish even further is the ability to customize. You can add extra spicy or salt and pepper seasoning, and both options enhance the flavor without losing the traditional character. This level of choice is not only satisfying but also shows a real understanding of how to serve street food well.

The jasmine green milk tea is equally memorable. It is fragrant and lightly tart, with just the right amount of sweetness. The flavor is clean and familiar to anyone who knows real Taiwanese milk tea. It does not try to be trendy or overly sweet. Instead, it focuses on delivering a balanced, nostalgic experience.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side. But what you are paying for is more than just a snack or drink. You are getting carefully prepared food with quality ingredients and an authentic touch that is increasingly rare. In this case, the cost feels justified.

One thing that was weird was the smell inside; there was a bit of a bathroomy sewery smell that made me not want to stay for the food. This detracted from the otherwise positive atmosphere.

Overall, Tea Hill succeeds where many others fall short. It does not just offer Taiwanese-inspired food. It offers the real thing, thoughtfully prepared and served with care. Whether you are missing the flavors of home or curious about what true Taiwanese street food tastes like, Tea Hill is worth the visit. Just get your order to go for the best experience!

This is a four star review instead of a five, because even though they have Boba and other toppings, they don’t have the popping topping (the little round balls that are filled with liquid and pop in your mouth). I think that would be a wonderful addition to the menu. But they do have the traditional Boba.

All that said, this is an extensive menu. They have cheese caps and lots of fruit teas and plenty of caffeinated choices plus they also have snacks.
The prices are also very good!
The last time we were here, we had a mango man, and that was so refreshing!

If they brought in the fun popping topping this would definitely be a 5 Star Place!

I had to leave a review! I visited for the first time this weekend and really loved the food! I got the teriyaki chicken & rice plate with a craft limeade (and shared a pancake with my party), and everything was so good, including the sauce served with the meal. Also! While I absolutely hate broccoli, I really liked how it was prepared here — definitely taking inspiration for when I attempt to recreate this. Great atmosphere. I’m already ready to come back to Chapel Hill for this place.

The first time that I visited chapel hills can’t taste the snow…. , today we did and is delicious. The place has an environment super cool… the customer services is excellent and the team is very pending of the orders. A lot people and students come to enjoy the food and the others things offered by the menú. I’m felt very fortunately found this cafe .. is wonderfully!

The oolong milk tea was really good compared to some I’ve had at other places. The boba was soft and chewy. They get your sugar level right do you don’t have to worry about it being too sweet or too bland. They have a lot of drinks and food choices to choose from. Makes a great place to hang or do work.

Cha house is a nice little tea bar off of Franklin Street so you will have to pay for parking, mostly parallel parking on the street. The tea is quite excellent! I tried this place out because they are one of the only places that advertise the ability to substitute for non-dairy milk since my mom is vegan and I wanted her to try bubble tea. One day the boba was very soft and gummy and another time it was firmer and more of what I’m used to so I’m not sure how they make their boba. But after my second time I’m ready to go back and try more of their teas, the black milk tea I had is fantastic!

Tl;Dr: the best boba in Chapel Hill by FAR!

The absolute best boba, no other shop compares, Tea hill is not only delicious, they’re consistent in what they produce. The drinks are always great and come out quick!

I can’t review Tea Hill without taking about their food too! The menus simple, yet delicious! The crispy Thai chili chicken is my go to dish, and i never get tired of it!

Also, if you’re looking for a place to work, study, or just hang out, you’ve found your spot!

The only single complaint I have, is that my favorite drink isn’t year round. The mango man. Every summer, it’s my go to, and it would be my year round drink of choice if it were available.

13/10- can’t recommend enough
