I went on NYE and it was Pre fixe menu. The food was ok but I was a bit underwhelmed based on my expectations from food I’ve had at Swine. Maybe because it was NYE they couldn’t give it the attention they normally would? Still good, just fell short of my admittedly high expectations based on Swine experiences. Maybe I’ll give it another try on a less busy night and adjust my review accordingly.

Brunch is excellent. We stayed in the Paramount Hotel and decided to try the Tavern brunch before leaving. I ordered an omelette and my daughter had the Chefs scramble. Both tasted wonderful, were very filling, and the service was fantastic.

This downtown Portland establishment offers a truly lovely and quite cozy atmosphere for brunch. You can expect good service from the attentive staff. The food served here is consistently solid and satisfying. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxed meal in a comfortable setting.

It has been quite some time since I have been back here. I came here for lunch last week and had a decent meal. I had their Taylor Street Dip with fries. I noticed that the the meat was actually braised beef chunks, which was different from the normal dip sandwiches I had. It did taste good with the dip. The service was good despite it being only one person working as server and bartender.

The space is pleasant and warm, tidy. Iiked the small bud glasses that held i think small wild flowers. Servers were all very good, smiling, pleasant, happy to help.
I shared garlic fries with my dining pal, enjoyed a good old fashioned served over an oversized ice cube (which I prefer much more than ice cubes or crushed ice). Overall a pleasant experience… up until the pork chop entree arrived.
Was delivered hot and the portion were good. The dish itself gets a “D” for dissapointing.
* The pork overcooked – internally dry and not tender. The amount fruit condiment was too, too much on top. It too sweet, and overpowered and killed any enjoyment with the underlying meat – but that, as already mentioned, was not good. Mashed potatoes are nothing special, and the vegetable just ok. It’s something that my untrained self would have concocted… I wouldn’t pay even myself $23 for it.
Sorry “TST”… IMHO you should get that off the menu.

The hotel’s location is excellent and our family had a wonderful stay, but we recommend avoiding the on-site restaurant, Taylor Street Tavern.
Despite it being a Friday night, the restaurant was only at 40% capacity. We waited at the entrance (there is no line, we were the only waiting guests) for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, even though I was standing two feet away from the hostess. She saw us waiting but never offered a simple ‘we’ll be right with you.’ A passing waiter offered a cold glare rather than a greeting. Tired of being ignored, we moved over to HopCity Tavern at the Hilton, where the service was pleasant and the food was great.

Stopped in for brunch after going to the Portland Art Museum. Atmosphere and decor were lovely. I ordered a Spanish Coffee, was told that wasn’t available ( I could see the ingredients behind the bar) so I ordered an Irish Coffee instead. What I received was a cup of coffee with a shot of whiskey, but charged for an Irish Coffee. My husbands omelet was served without the sour cream portion, my fish and chips were very oily ( I peeled off the batter), our guests breakfast potatoes were very dry. All in all I would rate it a 3 star at best. We will give it another try as you never know what is going on behind the scenes. The most pleasant person was the busser.

Lunch on Sunday mid-day. My granddaughter had chicken & waffles. The chicken was dry and stringy and the crust was burned black. I had fish and chips. The fish was tough and flavorless and the crust was okay on the outside but gummy and underdone on the inside. My son’s BLAT was fine. Fries were okay. Not coming back.

Well, we didn’t read the reviews ahead of tonight.
This place has potential, but of four dinners two were not edible. The other two were only fair to good.
Ginger ale didn’t have any ginger (fountain down)
A couple of entree items were not available tonight (Lemon-pepper Rockfish, Coffee Rubbed NY Steak)
Their Pizza oven was No-Op.
Salad was “gritty” texture (was unwashed??)
Chicken was dark meat only.
Barely no cranberries to be found.
Service was barely okay, but slow for a mostly empty dinning room.
No check in after food delivery. Table not bussed after mains eaten/rejected.
Refund offered too late (bill already signed)
Live and learn. We don’t recommend at all, and we won’t go back.
Diner’s please do your homework first!

SO HAPPY we ate breakfast here. Atmosphere was warm and comfortable. Service was PERFECT. Food was EXACTLY what we were hoping for. Biscuits and gravy was with bacon, so I was a little hesitant, but it delivered! Biscuits were delicious. Eggs were done perfectly. Bacon was not too limp and not too crisp. Coffee was hot and fresh and kept full.
We almost went to a trendy breakfast joint with a 30 minute wait, elbow to elbow seating and the sound of dishes clanking. This was the right decision!! We will DEFINITELY be back.
